The good thing about the Zelda universe is that it's technically possible to create alternate stories with relative ease..and that led me to think...what if the hero and villain roles were reversed?!Link has been raised his whole life with the knowledge that he is the chosen hero.. a fact that has given rise to a massive ego. His naturally cunning mind has developed into a manipulative, scheming mechanism bent on getting exactly what he wants.

Actually... can't help but think that WOULD be a good game. A new Ganondorf is forced to set out on a quest to stop an evil force attacking his people, meets Link. Link tries to stop him, as he egotistically thinks HE needs to be the one to save Hyrule. First act closes as Link gets part of the Triforce, causing the world to be thrown into chaos. Then Ganondorf has to reverse the damage with the help of, I dunno, sages or something, rally the people of Hyrule behind him, and then defeat Link with the help of Zelda, who while being immensely snobby and not a fan of Ganondorf whatsoever (due to the history of his namesake), is still wise enough to know Link needs to be stopped. Eventually an end battle against Link, whose morph less resembles a boar but instead a massive wolf. Ganon's playstyle would focus more on mastering spells instead of collecting items, but puzzle-solving would still be important.
Sorry, rant. Just saying that I think it WOULD be a great way to introduce a different story to the Zelda line, while still having the classic Zelda feel.

I agree, if it was done properly it could be a very interesting game. Keep the core mechanics but give the whole thing a blast of fresh air. I'm glad the concept inspired you so much, and I appreciate the comments.
