"holds Starscream's head" The end is near, my treacherous friend...what a shame you're unable to see it.

Looks very hansom. Can't help to love the level of detail this drawing has.

I agree that simplification is your friend here. I am an E.J. Su fan, so I tend to like robot faces that LOOK like Robot faces. But there is so much line and texture here that it is overpowering the basic form, and making expression difficult to see. (And as Starscream is the master smirker, we wanna see it!) I wouldn't suggest getting rid of all of it by any means. But some should definitely go.
Personally, I like the eyes and the front of the helmet. If you could repeat that look over the rest of the helm - riveting only selected pieces - that would be good. Then the rivets would be a cool factor, instead of distraction. And there are just too many lines on the face. Use the most necessary ones for form and expression, and leave out all you can. Find the simplest way for the face to work, and go with it. The lines, to me, were even more distracting than the rivets.

Otherwise - the thought and work you put into this really shows! Hope this was helpful...

MUCH better.
I forget to really comment of what I liked last time, so let me stress how much I like the way you've made the eyes - especially the small vents around them. Very cool; my favorite part.
The only critiques I could offer you now would be nit-picky and subjective. You want 'em?

Ey, any critique could be valid.

All right then... *cracks knuckles*
His chin feels a bit too small, and so feels weak. I realize it would take some more serious re-drawing to change that, but if you want to put the work in, I would recommend it. It's mainly due to the fact that his beardy-black thing joins directly into his lower lip. On the human face - what we base all faces on - there is a gap between chin and lip. I'd suggest lengthening that indentation under his lip, thus lengthening his chin. (You'll have to move the whole chin down to make it work, not just the inner lines.)

Extra-picky note: The line that runs from nose to corners of mouth feels too heavy. Try the double thin lines you used on the helmet instead? It would suggest the edge of a metal plate, rather than just being a black line...

I really hope all this is helpful!

Prime Out.

Well, I think the chin depends on how you look at it. The chinthing is more a helmetthing than a part of his face (even if connected). His chin so to speak, would be by human standards behind it, but in this case would be integrated with the helmet. If I moved it down, most people would imagine that his face is terribly long.

I agree on the heavy cheek-to-mouthline. Should be possible to change it but I'm not sure if it's really worth the effort right now. >.> Considering doing a new one, but larger. This image was about 3 by 3 inches big.

looks good, though im wondering about whether the rivet looking things are really needed on the helmet. i get their usefulness on certain versions like the WWII concepts, but the face looks very high-tech while the rivets just seem to be there to occupy space.

Personally don't mind rivets as it's a valid means of putting panelling together. But there's a lot of people that apparently make a connection between "use of (small) rivets" and "being human made".

Personally I see the size more as a sophistication and a size measurement. If you'd compare the size of those rivets with human ones they'd be... a tad large already. Now, I'm sure buckling exists in space so I can't see how a few minor or larger bolts would stop that with larger plates unless they become pretty thick.

Regardless, it's a cosmetic thing mostly and people do tend to confuse visuals with sophistication. On the other hand, using glue for panels is better in aircraft. Even if Boeing won't ever admit that Fokker was better at building smooth wings due to using glue instead of rivets that caused turbulence.

i wouldnt use a rivet as a size measurement. they come in all kinds of sizes like screws do, so if those were #4 size rivets then starscreams head there wouldnt be much bigger than a standard human head.

i agree that it is cosmetic, and i guess it just boils down to the preference of the artist
