Description
Emily remembers with nostalgia at walks hand in hand with Peter; now, she uses her both hands on crutches. She also thinks in future about carrying a baby from the bathtub to the changing board, and from there to his bed: how would she do without a free hand. She thinks to try new to walk with a prosthesis.
She takes her prosthesis and have a meeting with her therapist and her prosthetist. She gets her prosthesis on and tries to walk between handrails. After a study, the prosthetist finds he needs to adjust the socket, or perhaps build a new one, and to update the software. The physiotherapist prepares a training program for the stump. Two months later, after an intensive training, Emily is able to walk on a flat road without a cane, only with a light limping. To walk downstairs, she needs at least a handrail, or better two. Going downstairs, she has a large smile, thinking at the good news in her life.
Flashback yesterday: she walks hand in hand with Peter along the beach by ebb tide. They enjoy the sunset. Emily stops: “Honey, I went by my doctor this afternoon: I am pregnant” Peter turns, opens his arms and hugs her without any word. On the horizon, the sun plunges into the ocean.
