Description
It was exactly 4:13 in the morning and (Y/N) was still awake. The reason being that she was trying to finish a portrait of one of the most important people in her life. Well, he wasn't strictly a person. He was a Skeleton. However, that's beside the point.
"Grah! I can't get this other eye right!" (Y/N) growled in frustration and yanked on a strand of hair.

She was about to toss the half finished drawing across the room when the sound of her doorbell echoed through the otherwise quiet house. (Y/N) tensed up, silently questioning who on Earth would be at her door this time of night. After picking up a hairbrush from her desk, (Y/N) crept out of her room and towards the door as her mystery guest rang the doorbell yet again.

With the hairbrush raised defensively, (Y/N) opened the door a smidgen and peered out into the night.

"Sup kiddo," muttered the Skeleton on (Y/N)'s doorstep who was shivering slightly in the cold wind. His eyes held the faint trace of tears.

"Sans! What on Earth are you doing out there?! Get inside befors you freeze!" The human demanded as she threw open the door and nearly dragged him indoors.

(Y/N) got Sans on to the couch in her livingroom and threw a heavy blanket over him, not really sure if Skeletons retained heat or not but not willing to chance it. She plopped down next to him and noticed the glisten of tears by his eye sockets. She didn't even realize Skeltons could cry.

"Sans? Hey, what's wrong?" (Y/N) asked and gingerly laid a hand on his shoulder.

Sans looked over at her like he was about to say something, but it came out as a choked cry, and fresh tears appeared. Sobs began to shake his body and he threw his arms around (Y/N), who tensed in surprise.

"S-Sans?" The (h/c) asked in a quiet voice. Her answer was only the grip of bone fingers on her shirt.

(Y/N) knew he would tell her what was wrong later; she just needed to be there for him right now. So that's what she did. She sat there on the couch with a Skeleton wrapped in a blanket as he cried into her shirt. It was strange for sure, but oddly endearing because it meant that the guy she had the biggest crush on trusted her enough to let her see him like this.

They stayed like this for close to an hour. Sans eventually composed himself enough to let go of his human friend and stop crying.

"Heh, sorry you had to see me like that, kiddo. I just... I was having a bad time." Sans looked bashful and rubbed the back of his skull, "I, uh, well... I figured you'd understand."

(Y/N) chuckled and ran a hand through her hair. "Yeah, I get it. Sometimes you just need to cry. Oh, and don't worry; I won't tell anyone."

The promise made them both grin, and Sans sighed in contentment as he leaned back into the couch. A thought crossed his mind and he looked over at (Y/N).

"Why were you up this late, buddy?"

The drawing flashed across (Y/N)'s memory, and her face suddenly felt hot. "Oh, ah, well... You see, that's because," (Y/N) cleared her throat as a distraction whilst grinning like an idiot.

"You know, I think I've got a good Gabriel Iglasius DVD somewhere that we can watch," The girl said and she bolted off the couch in search of said DVD.

Sans placed his hands behind his skull and laughed at the girl as she crouched in front of the TV trying to find one DVD in the many she kept in a disorganized stack. With a victorious shout, (Y/N) jumped up with the DVD in one hand and placed it into the player before jumping back on to the couch. Sans lifted up one end of the blanket and tossed it over her body before she snuggled up against him and laid her arm across his rib cage. Sans looked over at her smiling face and felt a strange happiness that didn't grace him with its presence very often. Sitting here with (Y/N), seeing her smile... This was bliss.
