Long long ago under a different name I used to do a Vegeta-centric Vegebul comic similar in format and humour to the Erasermic ones I do now. It was called SPAM (Short Psychotic Alien Monkey)
I used a very simplified style and stuck to an eight panel format. It got modestly popular here and on Tumblr, and I started promising weekly updates, taking requests, self censoring and trying to work in things I knew my fans liked.

Wrong move.

I fell apart. I ended up hating it and hating my art. I tried a couple of times to resurrect it to no avail. I ended up having a breakdown and deleting all my art online, deleting my old 30K follower accounts and archiving everything I had, either to external harddrives or a storage facility.

The Erasermic comics were an attempt to get back on my feet, drawing what I wanted to draw because I wanted to. No crowd pleasing, no censoring off colour jokes or avoiding making characters queer, no art shortcuts to make things quicker, just what I wanted for the pure enjoyment and challenge of it, like the very early days of SPAM. It worked. I’m happier now, I enjoy what I do and I enjoy doing art again.

So I think it’s time to wake the sleeping Dragon(ball), but this time do it right. Draw it the way I want, put in the more risque off colour jokes, no censors, no shortcuts. I did love it, and part of me still does and still wants to draw them, to blow away the cobwebs of bad associations and start new

So in 2019 I will welcome back SPAM.
