STORY TIME!

It was over. The fighting, the death... The elements of Laughter and Loyalty; they had saved Equestria.

Coming back Pinkie had insisted they head for Sugarcube Corner, "it's where everypony'll be, Dashie!" She'd then produced balloons from somewhere and floated on ahead whilst the rainbow-maned pegasus watched uneasily, still uncomfortable with using her wings.

Walking up to her home village Rainbow Dash found the sight surreal. Everything looked so battered, the cloudy sky adding to the ghostly feel of the formerly bustling village. Sugarcube Corner was a mess; buildings damaged by weather, fire and who knows what else, yet the survivors of the war were returning. Her pink friend was chatting to the cheerful Derpy, who seemed none the worse for wear, and Granny Smith plus some of the foals had evidently got there a little ahead of her and Pinkie; the Apple family were busy reuniting. Applejack was in tears, sobbing into her grandma's shoulder, whilst Big Mac, his mane cut short for battle, nuzzled Apple Bloom, a look of contentment coming over him.

"I suppose, to some ponies, family really is the most important thing..." mumbled the blue pegasus.

"RAINBOW DASH! IT'S RAINBOW DASH!"

Glancing towards her name she saw a pair of foals rushing towards her, her biggest fan and her friend's little sister.

"Is it true you saved Equestria?"

Rainbow Dash smiled at the familiar faces, "Hey Sweetie Bell, hey Scootaloo... Guess I did..."

"I KNEW you could! Tell us about it, please?"

Behind the foals Rainbow Dash saw Rarity and Spike. Rarity seemed unusually frail, her mane hurriedly styled and far from its usual perfection, and Spike too seemed different... Still, if even half the rumours of the "Greed Army" were true then that was to be expected. The small dragon seemed to be looking for somepony and Rainbow Dash could guess who; not a discussion she wanted to have anytime soon.

She smiled weakly and said her greetings, accepting praise but avoiding answers when she could. Applejack had hugged her before breaking back into tears. It seemed that Fluttershy would not be joining them. Ever. Rainbow Dash felt her stomach twist at the news. She'd heard the rumours but... This was all too blatant. No one was surprised when she said she needed rest. Big Mac directed her to some of the temporary beds that had been set up in the best maintained homes.

Laying her head down on a dirty but soft pillow Rainbow Dash shut her eyes and was met with a wave of memories...

Deep the dark and shattered Canterlot castle she and Pinkie had passed a dark room before going onto where the elements were kept. The tired pegasus screwed up her eyes and forcefully directed her thoughts; the element room. The door was unlocked because of-... Rainbow Dash bit her lip. The elements... She and Pinkie had found their elements and, donning them, nothing had happened. She'd been crying... Pinkie had come up to her and nuzzled her gently and from that a warmth had spread through her and then outward to Equestria, a wave of Loyalty and Laughter to neutralise the magical corruption... They'd saved everypony...

...Because they got to the elements...

...Because Twilight had unlocked the door...

...Because Twilight had been in the dark room...

...Because Twilight... Had...

Sleep finally took Rainbow Dash's mind, leaving one last memory as it did so.

Celestia was dead.

I have no idea why I picked this art style, felt right but I still regret it. Oh well... FINISHED THE ATG WEEK! And only about a month late!
