I'm 100% with you! zoo means imprisonment...
often I think the hole world is kind of freaky, all these things humans decide and the consequeses for the further living are just so absurd.
I'm certain, that mankind could make it far better, but as long the mass of people do not have the courage to stand together and do something against the few people up there...
get aware of the fact that every one of us has responsibility... there's no much light

Not ONE wild animal should EVER EVER EVERY be in ANY kind of imprisonment (zoo, and everything else). Not ONE. But humans love to think and worry about themselves only. We don't care what effect our actions have on nature and animals around us, as long as what WE do makes us happy. As I've said, WE - the humans - deserve the WORST.

This broke my heart Yes, the wonderful "kindness" of humanity ... in imprisoning anything and everything we can find ... in killing and destroying what is good, natural, and pure. We, as a species, deserve THE WORST. And that is the truth.

Those faces are haunting. I haven't had much interest in zoo shots, but this might spur me to take another look next time I go.

The glass is reflecting teh hands of someone.. someone who's observing the sad existance of this gorilla. The human watching the sad animal in the glass box. This is one of the strongest images I have seen in DA.

I know what you mean, but I can't help thinking that in the wild these beautiful creatures would probably be killed for whatever reason...although I believe (and hope) the numbers are lower each year...but I don't treally know

but try to keep the thought that we're not holding them prisoners but keeping them safe...

I always feel bad for animals in a zoo. Like some have said...its jail and inhumane. Glad you brought this issue to the forefront with you fine work Drako. I, like you, do not patronize zoo's.

i like ths one,in paticular...not bc its got more color, i think, but...oh! It's bc it's got th reflectio of the hands crossed on the lap. That's what makes it cool. Nice shot, a sad, but nice shot.
