Description Someone's been doing their Deathrock homework. And rather enjoying it >shifty eyes<

Teal will hopefully have his new faceup next week, because chips the size of Africa have appeared in this one. And just when I was getting attached to it!
Teal is an El, and he wishes to emphasise that he's much prettier than my dire photography makes out.

Oh yeah, he's visiting the british trad and oldschool goths XD That means: he has to come back with a super awesome new face-up!
Well, I'm patient and the excitement for his new look gets bigger from time to time, so it is definetly not a bad thing, isn't it?

Haha I'm not sure British goths are quite as deathly gothic as the German goths, from what I've seen, now THAT'S what you call style! Well you see, I've done his faceup and it's all finished, but my dolls are all in London (I'm at uni there) and I'm in Devon with my parents, with only one here with me! I miss them

Hm, I've never been in Great Britain (sadly!) but I think they are not as obscure-looking as the german ones or the american deathrocker, but they also have style. 80s goths from the UK had big fluffy hair, Siouxsie Sioux-like make-up and they wore pikes (or winklepickers). I think this style rocks too :3 (and by the way, this tumblr blog has very nice pics of goths and deathrocker: [link] Maybe this will inpire you X3)

Oh wow, you've certainly done your research! I really like the old goth look, it's been ruined nowadays by mangy-looking teenagers who dress that way because they can't dress any other. And that blog is epic! Oh my lord those guys had style back then XD I bet they all work in banks now! haha

Of course I did ^^ I'm beginning to get deeper into the goth and post punk-stuff. It really interests me and makes me nostalgic. Just look how aweful most of today's (pop) music is. Back then it was much better. Of course there were always sell-outs and overrated and untalented popstars, but in the 80s even punk and alternative rock bands could get high pop chart ranks. Today the charts constist of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and similiar stuff and you have to search hard to find good music.
Or am I just too ignorant to accept today's music? (or maybe I'm a hipster, because I'm saying "music was better in the past"?) I don't know but I don't care though... because myself can relate much more to old rock and goth bands.

And you are right about the modern goth style. Mallgoths who just want to rebel against their parents or get on the bandwagon ruined it totally, stupid looking cybers make it laughable ( especially when they dance to the music of scooter...). And don't forget the "I dress like a domina so everybody thinks I'm badass, dirty and evil!"-type.

OMG I wrote a shitload of text XD

Oh God, modern music makes me cringe. It seems to me that every decade pre-2000 had a strong musical idea. Sixties- hippy stuff, seventies- glam rock, eighties- goth and post punk and ska, nineties- grunge and brit pop... and the noughties?! What did we have? When I was a teenager there was NO good music around, we all listened to old music (the people with good taste, that is). I once had an argument with my friend about music, and she was arguing that "Busted" was a brilliant band (they were terrible!) and she said, "AND they've been number 1 in the charts three times!" as if that somehow proved they were a good band.
I don't think you're ignorant though liking old music does have hipster qualities If Teal could see modern music, he'd be shocked, no doubt!

I hate this "it was in the charts"-argument. the same with books. Just because a book is a bestseller doesn't mean it IS good (look at twilight... a bestseller and high raanked in book charts, but it is such a literary crime...).
The only thing we had in the last ten years were people copying styles of music of the last decades (mainly Synth-pop, Disco music and Hip-Hop). They brought nothing new or creative. And yeah, you can play music that has been played before, but you can make it sound new innovative if you put some effort and creativity into it. But the modern pop scene lacks this creativity.
I would have nothing against good produced and deep pop music and I don't care if it is maisntream or not. But I can't find such music in today's charts and don't see it being promoted. I bet there are many talented musicians in all genres, but we don't see them, because they'll never get on TV or sell enough (and they can't even survive with their music).

Poor Teal would run amok and curse all those R'n'b "bitches" and musical crimes like Justin Bieber. I'm pretty sure about it (and I would support Teal!) And then he shows us how great deathrock has to be done! :3

Yeah, if you listen to the lyrics of that kind of stuff, even the bands supposed to be "good", it's complete meaningless jibberish. And as for the books thing! It really worries me because I'd love to be a published writer, but I write really differently to lots of contemporary writers and to be honest I don't really like their stuff, so I'm worried I'm writing the wrong way, in a kind of "unsellable" way. O.o

Oh, don't worry. You can be a good writer as long as you don't write lovestories with vampires, werewolves or other "oh-so-dark-and-therefore-pretty-fantasy-beings" or have a writing style like a 10- year old (or the "style" of a yaoi-fanfiction writer). You are very creative, cince your OCs have such interesting backstories and their personalities are unique and individual. Just write how you like, so your stories can write down a piece of your heart.
I don't think well done books are "unsellable", when the author put his feeling, his thoughts and his heart into his work. There are books that don't sell well, although they are good. They are just not following the current trends and hypes so their ausience isn't big.

Oh, thank you! I'm so glad you like my OCs. One of the things I don't understand about Twilight and other vampire romances is this: so if he's a vampire, that means he's dead. And if he's dead, he doesn't have a pulse. And if he doesn't have a pulse, he has no blood circulation. And if he doesn't have that, then how is it possible for him to physically have sex?! I think there's something Stephanie Meyer isn't telling us!

I thought about that too. But twilight isn't the only one that confuses me. Anne Rice stories contain many sex scenes between vampires (and also gay sex). You could say "it's just fantasy, it doeesn't need logic". But it is still very strange XD
