Description Lately I've been seeing a lot of annoying or outright inappropriate deviations on the "Most Popular" page. Why are they on the "Most Popular" page? Because lots of people are looking at them, or even commenting. The irony? These same people wonder why bad pictures are on the front page.

That's right. If it's a picture that's in poor taste or is against the ToS, it will most likely have more comments/views than many other deviations, thereby assuring that it will stay on the front page. Granted, when one looks down through the comments, one will find that most of them say something like "this s**t shouldn't be on DeviantART," or "Why is this on the front page?!" or "I'm reporting this." But what people can't seem to understand is that it doesn't matter. A comment is a comment, and it still contributes to the popularity of a picture.

So what am I saying? I know everyone's tired of hearing this, but if you don't like a deviation, then don't click on it. If people would stop flaming inappropriate content because it's on the front page, then it wouldn't stay on the front page. If it's against the ToS, then only click on it in order to report it. You don't need to make some high-horse comment about how inappropriate it is.

I've been thinking this for a long time. I don't get why people don't think that before they're about to type callow comments about a violation.

As far as I've seen, it only seems to cause more problems.

Unfortunately, to report a deviation, you have to click on it. On the right side of the page, in the "Statistics" section, there's a little button that says "Report Deviation".

Oh okay, thank you for that n_n
Well if you have to click on it to report it, then how come you said to not click on the stuff in your artist comment? o:

I just said don't click on it if you don't like it - not all the bad ones are against the terms. I did go on to say that if it's against the ToS, you should only click on it in order to report it.

Well that's true, I try to ignore the ones that I don't particularly like in general ^^

I agree with the no commenting thing, but the way deviantart is set up it is hard not to click on it. I mean you have to go to the picture in order to report it. I think deviant art should have a report button under every thumb picture. That way people don't have to click on it, but I don't know if they will do that. Although I may sound like a hypocrite because I have done this before, but I will stop. I'll silently report.

I agree wholeheartedly. However, unfortunately, people seem to be empowered by the internet to say things, when in real life they would just stare eerily at for a second or two and scuffle by as quickly as possible. It's even more unfortunate that I've found out recently that even the mods on DeviantArt aren't really willing to remove things that are inappropriate. You can't even get a hold of them to ask more questions about the terms of service. Ah, such is the internet I suppose...
