Boxer looked at the briefcase. He had managed to snatch it from the headquarters of the criminal organisation he had just made an escape from. Really he should hand it over to Bulldog for a full inspection. But he was intrigued. He had seen one of the important figures carrying it, and he really, really wanted to find out what was in it. So he flicked the latch.

The lid of the case flew open, flinging a cloud of gas into Boxer's surprised face. Unprepared, the young agent could only inhale a lungful of the acrid fumes. He recognised instantly the scent of knockout gas, as the clouds of fumes kept coming from the interior of the case, surrounding him in a choking fog. Bright lights danced in front of his eyes and he felt his body gripped by the all-too-familiar torpor.

As he slipped to the floor, in the seconds before he fell into the total blackness, he thanked his lucky stars that he was in a safe house where he couldn't be found. When he woke up, he could discover the other secrets of the case.

Sleeping soundly, Boxer could not see the small homing device mounted in the briefcase begin to flash out its signal.
