"Hey white boy. You with that camera. What are you doing in my neighborhood...taking pictures?"
OK it didn't go down exactly that way, but I'm sure someone I met was thinking this. He was in his car with a friend in the back seat. It's not known as a fact, but I suspect he was the owner of the local underground traveling bar, serving drinks on the street. (see photo below)
To be sure, we both felt fairly comfortable, while I was going up and down documenting Sycamore Hill in Cincinnati. Taken with a Nikon F, with 50mm F2.0 Nikkor on Kodak 135mm Plus X panchromatic film, in 1969.
