Description

I had 4 cameras ready but only had time for 2. My goal was to capture the eclipse with nearby stars appearing, nearly impossible with a long lens's fast shutter speed, lens stopped down to F 16, and they would be faint. Venus was most prominent but too far away to be included.

The Hasselblad 500EL with the 500mm Tele Tessar loaded with two backs, color and black and white, never used, and the 1000mm F11 Celestron, on a D-700, turned away from the sun, but needing critical aligning, not done. The 4 minutes went quickly. The difficulty was you couldn't pre position the cameras to prevent intense sun burn out from the long lenses. Focus and angles were prepared but final exact alignment took too much of the limited time. I settled for the Leica M240 first, then went to the Nikon D800, with a 500mm F 8 Mirror Nikkor.

Interesting fact...this image has been highly favored but I haven't been able to see it highlighted in any topic listing. Has anyone seen it except for my watchers or tagged to another posting?
