He is Garuda son of Vinata and sage Kashyap
Garuda is very powerful and He is Vahana of Lord Vishnu, He is servant of Lord Vishnu
He is also know as the God of All Birds,

His Backstory is like,
Rishi (sage) Kashyap (who was Son of Lord Brahma) got married to 13 women of different races, each 13 of them gave birth to different races, like Rakshasa, Devas, trees, animals, etc.
from those 13, there were two Vinata and Kadru
thet both asked Kashyap for sons
Kadru got 1000 eggs of Serpents
on other hand
Vinata asked for two sons, who were more powerful than all Kadru sons
she got two eggs
from 1000 eggs of Kadru, 1000 snakes came, Sheesha was the first born, Vasuki was second born, and other nagas and snakes
but
Vinata's two eggs were still not responding and developing
out of curiosity she broke one Egg and, saw a half baby who was not developed fully, but he was alive, he was angry on his mother, and cursed her of bad future, the son was Aruna the charioteer of Sun God, Surya
Vinata was still waiting for her son, and didn't Break the second egg

one day Vanita and Kadru was bathing in sea they both saw a White Pegasus, but couldn't saw his Tail
Kadru said, that the flying horse's tail was black, but Vanita said this is not possible, they challenge themselves, who ever lose next day, she will become servant of other,
next day, Kadru told her 1000 snake Sons, to get attached to the tail of the flying horse, Making it black, they did exactly what there mother said
Vanita and Kadru gose to the sea again and saw the tail, Vanita thought she lose, so she become servant of Kadru,

after son Time, The second egg of Vanita broke from which a very powerful Eagle boy, was born,
Vanita was so happy to see this, she named Him Garuda
but
Vanita and her son Garuda both serve, Kadru and her 1000 snake sons
Garuda asked the 1000 sons, that what should I do to get freedom of my mother and me,
the 1000 snakes told that, he can give them Amrit, (nectar of immortality)
Garuda Gose to his father, Kashyap, asked him about Amrit nectar, Kashyap told, him in Swarga(heaven), it is protected by a very strong security impossible to break,
Garuda gose to Swarga, the Devas saw him assuming that he might be an asur who wants Amrit nectar
Garuda fought all Devas and defeated them, he broke the security of Amrit and saw a pot in which therevwas Amrit
in his back way, Lord Vishnu came to him, and asked him to become his Vahana
Garuda was happy to become Vahana of God himself
then Garuda met Indra, Indra king of Swarga heaven, attacked Garuda with his thunder Vajra, but Garuda was unaffected by the attack, Indra decided to become his friends,
he asked why are you stealing this pot of Amrit nectar, Garuda replied to give it to the 1000 snake sons of kadru, so that kadru can free and release my and my mother Vanita
Indra told him, that from his magical powers, Indra can vanish the pot, from anywhere, so when he will give the pot to the Serpents
he will vanish it before they drink it,
Garuda thanked Indra, Indra blessed him to be able to eat Snakes, cause Snakes were favorite food of Garuda
Garuda gose to the 1000 snake sons, give them the pot of Amrit, and freed his mother Vinata and himself,
Indra used his magical powers and got back the pot of nectar Amrit, from The snakes.
