Description
Featuring
Vidar
Summer, Year 774 of the New Age
Silverthorne; at the herd
The golden stag made his way towards his sire. Vidar's father was resting beneath the branches of a small tree to be out of the sun. The old soldier's eyes lightened up when he saw his youngest son approaching, his tail flicking to get rid of some flies who only interupted to annoy him for a few seconds before trying to land back on his fur. Old age didn't affect the elder soldier too much it seemed, it made him look more hardened, but in a good way, yet Vidar knew his sire was enjoying his breaks from duty more often now than when he was younger.
"Greetings, father." His voice interupted the sound of flies that now circled over to him with interest. Annoying pests. With a quick shake of his head he set them on fire and the tiny insects fell right out of the air.
"No need to waste your fire on those, son, you got a tail and mane for that." His father snickered quietly. With a slight rolling of his eyes Vidar joined his father in the shadow, touching his head in greeting. He just arrived back from a patrol and had been on his feet without break, life was hard in the army, but Vidar liked it, despite his legs now welcoming the rest.
"How's mother?" The young stag asked, this time shaking his head to get rid of new flies. His father was right, there was no limit to flies, so better not waste any magic.
"As beautiful as ever. She's at the creek with your sister. She'll soon give birth to her first fawn. You gonna be an uncle." The elder responded proudly, the smile easily reaching his eyes. Vidar knew his sister was doing her duty, it even filled him with pride that she was successfull this rut. And the stag who's harem she joined was quite a catch as well. For a doe at least. Unlike that useless brother of his, but Vidar rather not talk about him right now.
"Sounds good to me." Vidar commented, apparently sounding a little indifferent about it as his father turned his head towards him.
"You know, she's blessing us with a fawn already and yet you're the older one, when will you become a father?"
Vider blushed slightly, flicking his ears uncomfortably. He had been looking at does lately, that was true, but he hadn't really found one that could hold up his high standard. Or wasn't already in a harem and he might not admit it directly, but he had already lost two fights for a doe that was already in a harem and that hit his pride hard.
"I'll find my does when it's time." He replied, a little quiet now.
His sire looked at him for a moment before bursting out in laughter, nudging his son affectionatly.
"When it's time then." He repeated, looking toward where the creek was, spotting the siloutettes of Vidar's mother and sister coming from there. The young doe looking round with the new life growing in her, yet she too had a proud, maybe a little tired, smile on her face, her eyes lighting up when she spotted Vidar next to their father. The does happily arrived by the stags to join them.
