Description
Featuring Ace , Flower and Amalthea
Spring, 764 of the New Age
Windborne, Near Cockle Bay
Thea was gathering herbs for the large Blackwood. He had been getting healthier and even gained weight, a good thing, considering how skinny he had been when he had arrived, almost scary looking. Now there were no bones sticking out anymore, but sometimes Windborne diet didn't really do him much good, there were still plants he wasn't used to and that would upset his tummy. She remembered her mother taking the young Amalthea to gather herbs when her brother had gotten sick. Now the roan doe knew exactly where to look for these plants, something to calm the belly and soothe the aching.
The doe arrived back at the Blackwood who had been resting most of the day until now. Ace had been at his side as always, if those two wouldn't end up together some day, then she didn't know who else would be fit to be a partner for them, they were (sometimes annoyingly) perfect for each other. Also a pity, knowing that two stags certainly wouldn't produce a baby and Thea didn't have anything against more fawns in their small family herd.
"Thea, you're back!" The silver stag called out when he spotted her. "See, Flowzy, I told you she had swift legs. You'll feel better in no time."
The larger one turned his head towards her, which he had been resting on the smaller male's back. She noticed Ace having sorted those dreads Flower had all over his neck, well somewhat, as soon as he moved they were falling all over again. She had tried to tame his mane once, but it only ended in frustration for both of them.
The look she got from the Blackwood made her stop in her movement. He seemed to recognise the herbs, not unusal, many fawns managed to upset their tummies easily and learned to tell them apart at some point, but the stag looked at the herbs with worry.
"W-what is it?" She asked confused, tilting her head slightly.
"Are you sure they'll help?" Flower questioned quietly. "I've seen those in Blackwood and they... let's say they weren't of the helpful sort."
The roan doe looked at the herbs once more, they certainly were what she had always collected with her mother, she knew them by heart.
"Yes, I'm very sure. I might be better with pretty flowers, but those herbs I do know" She replied and Ace bumped his head on Flower's neck affectionally.
"Aww Flowzy, Thea wouldn't give you bad herbs, she wants to help, I bet they even taste yummy."
"Well, actually..." She began. "They're pretty bitter, but they'll help, if it makes you feel better I'll eat some, too." The offer was genuine and she was hopeful it helped to stop the Blackwood from worrying. She was curious though, how could such a simple plant seem to have a different effect in another teritory, granted she knew nothing much about Blackwood's climate, maybe it was just a similar looking one--, but she expected them to just look similar.
"If they're bitter then it's good, the ones in Blackwood had a nice taste, but a bad effect once you ate them." Flower explained with a weak smile. It was time for him to get better, Thea decided, she lied down next to him and together with Ace she helped Flower eat the collected plants and get some more rest. While occasionally asking questions about Blackwood herbs out of curiousity.
