Description While I was drawing this, I thought it'd just be cool to give Hastur an old, stone sword, like he might have picked up off the street of some ancient city from long-ago. Only afterwards did I recall that some mythos authors gave Hastur the element of air, associated sometimes with swords. Also, from what I know, The Call of Cthulhu RPG version of the infamous play 'The King in Yellow' describes an emissary sent ahead of Hastur, called 'The Phantom of Truth'; truth (along with thought and the mind) also being associated with symbols of swords.
Guess it was just meant to be.

I really like the yellow curtain for his faceβ€”ties in nicely with the elements of theatricality associated with the King (and the question begged by all the imagery drapery and masks and so forth: is there something or nothing under the curtain, and which is worse?).

Yeahh, love that guy! I know some people speculate that he's an avatar of Hastur, but whether or not that's just because he's yellow I'm not sure... in any case, I like the cloth mask look a little more than regular 'mask' that Hastur sometimes sports.

I dunno...i always got the feeling that the high priest was either very worm/dhole-like or some emissary of Nyarlathotep (could very well be hastur) or maybe even an incarnation or the crawling chaos himself. or maybe one of those ugly moon frog things.

Thanks I'm pretty sure Hastur didn't literally burn Carcosa to the ground or nothing, but burning city and ominous looking stained glass seemed the way to go.
