Nopony really knew what happened to Twilight. All any witnesses knew was Rarity walking into the castle, and a tall mare with pure black eyes walking out, and Sweetie Belle's case didn't help much either much less Pinkie Pie- who was the one who discovered the body in the first place.

Princess Celestia had summoned the worlds best investigators and magicologists to research, and it was those results that confirmed their greatest fears- the magic of Nightmare Moon. However, Luna was just fine, and compared the disappearance of Rarity could only mean one thing. Only problem was: Without Twilight and Rarity to wield the elements of Magic and Generosity, how would they try to fix this? Unfortunately, the remaining Mane 4 were too restless and Spike had shut himself away in Twilight Velvet and Night Light's home, so it was not like before the 4 mares grabbed their elements and ran into the Everfree Forest where the dark mare had been spotted heading towards.

When they reached the Ruins, the sound of hoofsteps echoed through the castle before Nihility stood before them- magic switching between black and Twilight's magic color as she held the breaking Element of Magic and the darkening Element of Generosity. One thing was for certain: This was NOT Rarity. Rarity was dramatic, friendly and energetic- but the mare in front of them had a blank expression that showed not a hint of emotion as she stared down upon them. The only thing that could be seen in her void eyes was... Intent?

To their best attempts, they activated their elements which shined brighter and brighter- both of the elements in Nihility's possession shaking and flashing a much dimmer glow for a few seconds before fading. No matter how much they tried, the Elements of Harmony were effectively useless now. Without the Element of Magic, without HARMONY, they weren't going to work.

Rainbow Dash was furious, shouting angrily in an attempt to disguise her fear and confusion. Fluttershy was weeping, feeling helpless that she couldn't save Twilight or help Rarity, while Pinkie Pie simply grew dull and lost her pink color as she flopped to the floor as she completely gave up in apathy. Applejack stood in front of the three of them protectively, eyes locked onto Nihility as she approached the Mane 4. Now all 6 of the elements were darkening in color and none of them could bring themselves to fight their old friend, and because of that...

Equestria never saw them again.

You guys REALLY liked Nihility (even to the point where someone has made fanart ?? wowza!! nothing makes an artist happier!!), so obviously I decided to expand upon her a little. Came up with a few ideas while drawing this one, like the idea of her magic color changing with who's magic she's absorbed- in this case, Twilight. I also found a few songs that reminds me of Nihlity, or more specifically how I imagine she'd act. I'm thinking Labyrinth by Miracle Musical, Cold Island from My Singing Monsters and Nowhere To Run by Stegosaurus Rex.
