My baby, Sidewinder
It felt good to draw him again after such a long time. This was another experiment with my new style, this time adding some color. I got some very nice CC the other day about needing to add in some darker shadows to my colored pieces so I attempted that here.
I've also come to the conclusion that my scanner eats dark colors because before I altered the tone in a program there were hardly no shadows

Great, realistic face once again. He has a bigger girth to withers than I recalled, but he IS stallion. Sidewinder is, of course, also one of my favorites of yours. I'm wondering what's going on with that epic story... Love the shading, again. This new style is very bold. And you were so worried you were stuck! Even the manes and tails looks sharper. Very nice.

Yeah, I made his girth a bit too big but other than that I'm fairly happy with him
And I'm still kind of stuck. I'm more interested in playing the Sims than drawing

lovely! My scanner eats everything. XD So shadows ALWAYS disappear. It's really quite annoying.

Very nice, though the shadows are are still a bit faint.
What you might try doing.. It looks like you use black lines to indicate the edges of muscle/shadows. Maybe try blending in the shadows so that those lines become nearly invisibile. Just exagerate the hell out of those shadows.
I'm probably the last person to critique on shading, as I almost never shade my own drawings.. for the same reason.. I tend to do them too light, too.
Just maybe try treating it like it has heavy heavy light source and deep dark shadows.

The original shading is a bit darker. I wish I could've gone even darker with it but my paper gets to where it can't soak up any more color
