Description ...you have to fly.

My breeding picture between *sealle 's KhC Peregrine [link]
and my stallion Thalion [link] . This is his last breeding and I am very excited for the resulting baby

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was another blazing summer day when the loudly colored mare set foot on the Kentucky soil. As she curiously scanned her surroundings Hathien couldn't help but stare in awe. The mare was beautiful, and a perfect match for her beloved stallion.

Thalion was in the birch tree lot sunning on his side when the trailer pulled into the drive. As soon as Peregrine had stepped out of the trailer he heaved himself up and took a lap around the paddock. Giant body hitching in his old age, but still stretching out like the seasoned racer that he was. Stopping by the gate he politely flehmened the air and stood watching the mare become accustomed to her temporary home.

------------

A few weeks later Peregrine was prepped and ready to be bred. After observing the couple's reactions to each other Hathien decided that a natural breeding would be ideal. They were both laid back, and despite Peregrine's natural curiosity she didn't seem to have a mean bone in her lean body.

Thomas brought Peregrine to the paddock gate while Thalion stood eagerly on the opposite side. Hathien held the stallion back gently while the mare entered. When both were safely inside Hathien and Thomas unhooked them both and stepped outside to watch the antics that were sure to ensue.

Thalion walked straight up to Peregrine, and in greeting they quickly bumped noses, taking in the other's scent. The speckled mare looked at him curiously, not sure what to think as he rubbed his chin over her back.

"This might actually go quickly..." Hathien said in disbelief.

"Nope. Look," Thomas chuckled as he pointed out to the pasture "she's going to make him work for it!"

Turning back Hathien saw the two black streaks thundering down the field. Peregrine in the lead with Thalion close on her heals. She must have been curious to see if the elderly stallion could still keep up with her. She threw in a few playful kicks and bucks along the way, inspiring Thalion to do the same.

"I haven't seen him this agile in years." Hathien regarded with a smile at Thomas. "It's good to see him acting like a colt again."

"Yep." Agreed Thomas "This will be a foal to remember."

Enjoy

Thank you!! I'm so happy you like it!

This was a very fun picture to do, and, if it's even possible, made me fall even more in love with the prospect of these two
And I'm still amazed that I even managed to book a breeding with Peregrine! I had been eyeing her for a while

I'm totally overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of his grandbabies and greatgrandbabies that are out there. Someday I'd like to compile a list of them...but I'm probably too lazy to do that

Perhaps you can breed with one of his many babies or grandbabies! He certainly has plenty to chose from, and he seems to pass along his genetics well

You are quite welcome. I've actually got two Thalion descendants right now. They are both fillies, about 7 months old: Hasmodia and Coals of Perdition Perdition is a Diablo filly, while Hasmodia is from Malachi , a stud by Diablo as well. I didn't realize I was such a fan until I started organizing the foals..

I know. I don't know why he's never been nominated for the harpg Eclipse awards. I'll have to nominate him for Sire of the Year, I think. (Now to remember who holds the awards...)

I've never heard of those awards. Is there a journal for them? I'm interested to see
I'd be honored if Thalion was nominated for Sire of the Year
