One of my favorite pictures of the girls, if not my sole favorite. You did a nice job coloring it.
Tatiana dominates the scene, as well she should; there was something about her and it wasn't just her beauty. Even in these vintage photographs, even if you didn't know who she was, her essence would have reached out and grabbed you by the heart.
I wonder if any of Nicholas's children guessed that he was using them to enhance the Romanov image with the Russian people. And I wonder if they wouldn't have cared if they did; after all, he was the Tsar and he was Papa, so anything he did wouldn't have been bad as far as they were concerned.

I don't think Nicholas ever used them to enhance the Romanov's image with the Russian people. The Russian people liked the children and thought they were fantastic. They saw them in parades, etc. and loved how they looked. Photographs such as this one were made into postcards for the people.

I can understand why the Russian people would like them. I mean, wow, ninety years later people still like them, and not just Russians. But the reason why I asked is because it was hinted on the National Geographic special, "The Mystery of the Romanovs", that Nicholas knew what he had in the kids and used it to good advantage.
