Mar has a father who is half ant half human and a mother who is half human half dragon.

most Dysons (where Mar and Shesheik live) incorporate most if not all other races somewhere in their family tree (around 1000 different races) this is possible due to "Dyson's Gift" and nanobot assembler that is a biological part of every Dyson

so advanced is Dyson's gift that even non-DNA races such as Ostiforms (basically plastic race) and amorphians (goo people) can have successful offspring with humans and the like

both Mar and Sheshiek have Ostiform bones (industrial strength super plastic) and can activate their Amorphian codes for 'stretchy' attacks.

so intermixed are the races of Dyson that the notion of "purity" is synonymous with weakness
