Description Valentine's Day. The day of love. It is also a time to be even closer to the ones you love. The Rose Garden Orphanage was in full swing for the holiday. The stairs were covered with red and pink ribbons. The hallways were littered with paper hearts. Today, Meg, the Baroness, told us that the Princess of the Rose wanted us to make valentines for her. The boys groaned at the knowledge of this, but made some for the Princess anyway.

Diana, the Duchess, made a necklace. Meg made a poem about Valentine's Day and Eleanor, the Countess, made an origami bird. Wendy, the Lonely Princess, Susan, the Impetuous Princess, and Olivia, the Tearful Princess, drew pictures with Wendy in the Sick Bay. Amanda, the Small-Hearted Princess, made a bracelet.

I, on the other hand, decided to make cookies for my Valentine's Day gift. While I was making the cookies, I heard snickering from the other orphans behind me. I did my best to ignore them when the laughter escalated when the Queen of Cleaning, Martha, had to helped me. She, much like the others, gave me several strange looks when she helped me.

When I finally put the cookies in the oven, I remembered I wanted to make a Valentine's card for Wendy. I quickly ran out of the kitchen and into the foyer to get some paper, glue, scissors, and a pencil.

When I started back, I saw some fake peacock feathers on the foot of the staircase. They were quite pretty. I snatched them up and headed back to the kitchen. I cut out a heart from the paper, cut the peacock feathers down to size, glued them to the curves of the heart, and wrote "Everlasting, true love. I am yours." on the middle of the heart.

I held my finished Valentine back and admired it. Then I smelled something starting to burn. I gasped as I thought of the cookies and whirled around to open the oven. I put the almost burnt cookies on top of the oven and heard giggling. I turned to see Diana's red hair and Meg's notebook disappear from the door and the Cleaning Queen storming in.

"What's going on in here?"

"I-I was distracted...." I muttered as Martha marched over to look at the cookies.

"Hmm...... At least you didn't burn down the orphanage....." Martha gave me one last strange look before heading out of the kitchen. I sighed and shook my head.

With my cookies in hand and my feathery card under my arm, I headed up the stairs to the Club in the attic. When I got to the door to the attic, I had to shift the cookies to my left hand and almost lost one. After regaining my balance, I went up the stairs. I stopped halfway up. I heard the attic's song again, like from a couple of months ago. But I didn't feel scared like I did before.

I shrugged and went up to the Club's door. I sat the cookies down next to the other Valentine's Day gifts. I stood up and looked around again. The song of the attic had stopped suddenly like it did before. I pushed it out of my head and took two of my cookies.

When I arrived at the Sick Bay, I saw Wendy sitting up in bed. She looked a lot better than Susan and Olivia had said she was. Wendy looked and smiled at me.

"Happy Valentine's Day, my sweet Prince!"

"Happy Valentine's Day to you, too, Princess." I handed my gifts to her and her smile widen.

"Oh, thank you! I love them! But I didn't make anything for you!"

"That's okay," I replied and we both took a bite out of the cookies. We grimaced.

"Sorry that they're bad."

"That's fine. It's the thought that counts!"

We set our cookies on the counter and Wendy looked back at her card and smiled, looking at the fake peacock feathers. These beautiful feathers were apart of our wings of love.
