THE SXE LIST # 23 SECRETS.

So. I looooove the relationship between Yukina and her brother, Hiei. I love how Hiei is such a tough brat, but when he realizes he has a sister, he puts it all aside to find her. I've always viewed Yukina as Hiei's salvation.
That's how I came up with the idea for this picture. I wanted to relate symbolically how i feel about their relationship.

I drew this without reference, which is a rare occurence for me. I'm still not happy enough with my style that I feel comfortable drawing without reference. and the sketch/lineart for this wasn't exactly brilliant, so i knew I had to knock it out with color and hues and shadows...so..there..

and now I'll explain all the different symbolic stuff that went through my head as i drew this, because you probably won't get it on your own...:

~ Yukina's Ice, Hiei's fire: Yukina may be an ice apparition, but really Hiei is the one trapped by his anger and hatred.
~Light/shadow: Yukina brings light into Hiei's dark life, gives him a reason to be good and productive.
~ Wall: Hiei, although he can feel Yukina's emotions and how she has changed him, is still stopped by that obstacle (the promise not to tell her who he is) and hence, cannot truly reach out to her.
