Description
Blue shading/lining for the Cloud Kingdom! It was very fun to come back to after like two years. And we get to see new and old characters! Aurora (the Queen) is from Skyfall/Broken Wings, Daedalus is new, but may look a bit familiar from the trailer , and Arachne is new! also fun fact- the clay pots are traditional in ancient Greek funerals, especially the thin whiteish one which is called a lekythos. the other is an amphora. the columns are Doric this time as well, not Corinthian like in the chapter cover. And of course, the word on the headstone is Minos (which uses an omega instead of an omnicron to give it the long O sound- more fun facts). I will not let my many ancient art history/language classes go in vain. and if you remember how Minos' parents graves looked , you can see that his is a bit different!Arachne's name comes from the Greek myth where a girl is turned into a spider by Athena for being too prideful about weaving
Daedalus' name comes from the great inventor and maker of the Minotaur-trapping Labyrinth
Aurora's name comes from the Roman goddess of the dawn

Oh did Minos ever truely move on from Skye’s death? Did he ever truely love Aurora?

I think he did! I wouldn't want him to be miserable all his life, but I also think it took the events of Broken Wings for him to truly start to live his life better, and thats when he really started loving Aurora and living in spite of his disability, and also just props to Aurora for learning to be better from her old ways and also just for supporting and sticking with Minos she's just a very good example of character growth and she became a better 'person' because of Minos. But yeah, I think they did eventually love each other, especially during the end of Minos' life

the names have always made me wonder, do they have the stories of the gods and name themselves after them? or equivalents? do they just happen to name themselves the same things? we may never know.

I think they're naming themselves after the myths/history. I don't know if they actually happened (as in like myths such as Minos, Ariadne, Perseus, Daedalus, etc. and history like Plato, Scipio, Diocletian, Nero, Livia, etc.) but like... in cat form? But I guess something happened, and they're naming themselves after that. A small portion of the Cloud Kingdoms believe in the equivalent of the Clans' Spirits (which they do call gods, of course each Kingdom having different ones a la Greece, Rome, Norway, and Egypt), but it's more of an old belief and not entirely super widespread in the time of my comics (so much that the winged cats that do care about/know about the Clans think they're archaic and primitive)

well stuff like that takes practice and development of both your storytelling skills over time and art skills over time. i mean yeah I am this accomplished, but it did take eight actual years so

i missed it too and I'm very excited to do more cool things (i.e the architecture thats more possible outside of MS paint and new ancient history stuff I've learned in the time between I last drew it and now)
