I was thinking about that drawing I made recently about suicide. I don't think I did a good job at clarifying, so I'll say, I made it for artistic reasons. I thought it'd make a dynamic and shocking composition. I'm not dealing with anything like that personally, so please don't worry. Far from it actually, yeah! Anyways, this is back to the main timeline, the canon one I suppose. Here, Dan experienced what happened as a dream. Well, I guess you could call it dimensional overlap or something. I've had such dreams before, they're really terrifying...

Joe: Uh, Dan?
Dan: Buddy, listen. I had this dream, man... it was real awful. You know that case we're workin' on?
Joe: Yeah, the one with the gang activity.
Dan: Yeah. Well, while we were workin' on it, you offed yourself. Your brains were all over the place, man. It was horrifying.
Joe: Oh... I see. Well it was just a dream, right? There's nothing to worry about.
Dan: No, you don't understand! It felt too real, partner. I mean... I woke up, and I had all this sweat on me. I coulda sworn that you'd really done it.
Joe: ...
Dan: Let's drop the case. I've got a bad feeling about it. Those gang members... they're different from everything we've messed with so far. It's too dangerous.
Joe: Well... if you say so. I guess we can let the police take care of it instead.
Dan: Joe... Joe, buddy. You'd never off yourself, right? Even if things got really bad?
Joe: Of course not. Well... maybe if Detective Owen novels stopped being made.
Dan: Hey! That's not funny!
Joe: Sorry, I didn't mean anything by it. But really, life's all about the Hedonic Treadmill. You have ups and downs, but everything always evens itself out. If you kill yourself, you're forfeiting your chances to make things better. And there's nothing worse than quitting when you're right near the finish line, so to speak.
Dan: Yeah... I reckon that's right. But really, don't ever do it, or I'll kill you!
Joe: Sheesh, I said I wouldn't, all right? And that threat doesn't make any sense!
