Defiant…a word that has defined Jasper her entire life, she defied the expectations of her as a Beta Kindergarten Quartz, defeating countless Crystal Gems from the moment she emerged, she defied Rose Quartz after being stranded on a starforsaken, insignificant rock and forced to fend for herself, she defied Rose Quartz’s foolish attempts to convert her to the Rebellion when she was corrupted, even though joining her would have saved her from such a fate, and now? Now she is defying Homeworld itself, for she has seen the Diamonds for what they truly are, brutal, warmongering tyrants, who created Gems, just like her, for their own vanity and selfishness.

She won’t be that kind of leader, for Jasper is nothing if not defiant, she defied the expectations of herself as a Beta Kindergarten Quartz, defying the expectations of her as a Diamond will be no different, her people will follow her out of respect, not fear, this she vowed, because, as she was corrupted, she knows the horrors of the Diamonds regime, and for the first time in her life, she was afraid, that horror will not rear its head as long as she sits upon the throne of The New Diamond Authority, her Gems will know strength, allegiance, prosperity, and above all else, the happiness and freedom her kind was denied under the old Authority.

For example, not only is inter/multi-Gem relationships and fusion allowed, it is actively encouraged, if two or more Gems have feelings for each other, regardless if they are the same kind or not, they are allowed to form relationships and fuse at their leisure, if all parties consent and it doesn’t serve as a detriment to others, then it is perfectly legal under New Diamond Authority rules, another law of The New Diamond Authority is to actively avoid confrontation with other species, governments and Empires, only fighting if necessary to defend itself, Jasper has proved surprisingly adept at at forging alliances with others in her pledge to be better then the Diamonds of Homeworld, not only having allied her new Authority with the human Empire of Japan, but also begun the process of allegiance with an alien race known as the Tuulzonic Wisp Striders.

Jasper was lost when she was uncorrupted by the Diamonds, the revelation that Pink Diamond was actually Steven Universe shook her to her very core, with no idea on how to properly process everything that had transpired, to clear her head, she began wandering the planet, drifting about, trying to find answers about who she was now, what she could possibly be, it felt like an eternity to her, but in reality, only a few days later she found the answer to all her questions, a derelict Era One scout ship, buried at the front of an extinct volcano, a good estimate would place it as having been shot down during the open days of the Rebellion, remarkably however, it was relatively intact bar the several millennia of deterioration and the hole punched through the ship.

Making the decision to investigate the wreckage, Jasper found her way to the ship’s bridge, finding the data core and activating the ship’s Artificial Intelligence system, still somewhat functional, it recognised Jasper’s status as a high ranking Homeworld Gem, and managed to reveal to her the original mission of the ship before losing power and being rendered inert, it was sent by the Diamonds to locate reinforcements for a Homeworld counteroffensive against the Crystal Gem Rebellion, but had been shot down by unknown forces before it could reach its destination, luckily for Jasper, she was able to recover the ship’s original destination, and head there herself, the destination was Matsushima Island, part of the Oki Island collective off the coast of Japan, here, her old life ended, and her new life began.

The Pró̱tos Kindergarten, a Homeworld base of legend, before the Rebellion, Yellow Diamond had set up a prototype Kindergarten to make sure Earth of a viable colony for Pink, in doing so, she deployed a Gem Satellite and a small force of an older Era One Injector variant, with the intention of creating a small amount of Gems to help determine viability, sending a trusted, high ranking Peridot to take charge, the scout mission initially reported back on positive mineral deposits and the successful creation of the first batch of Gems, but went completely dark shortly after, Yellow prepared to send a detachment of ships to investigate, but mounting pressure from Pink Diamond swayed her hand, and she instead deployed Injectors to begin colonization efforts, quickly forgetting that Pró̱tos ever existed.

But now, the Pró̱tos Kindergarten had been rediscovered, and here, Jasper got to witness what a life without Diamond oppression was like, since she was created, she believed that servitude to the Diamonds was necessary to the continued existence of the Gem race, that Gems NEEDED purpose in order to survive, but here, a colony of Gems had existed for over six thousand years without purpose, without guidance from the Diamonds, and they were thriving, more important then that, they were…happy, this discovery shattered everything Jasper knew and thought about Gem society, for the first time in her life, she questioned the Diamonds, she had seen them for what they were, and seen that there truly was the possibility for life without them.

What happened next is relatively unknown, as Jasper herself has revealed only vague details, a bright light somehow altered her on an atomic level, changing the silicone and oxygen atoms of her Gemstone to pure carbon, in an instant, she was no longer a Quartz soldier, she was the very thing that had brought ruin and despair to her race for eons, how would these new Gems react to her? Confusion? Hatred? No, the answer, as Jasper would soon find out, would be much, much more surprising…
