Lightningtail is a very compassionate tom. He cares deeply for all of his clanmates and cares about the well-being of them all, even those that he doesn't particularly like. Every life matters to him Lightningtail always does everything he can to uplift his clanmates. He's very charismatic as well. Like his brother, he has a way with words but rather than use them snarkily he uses the compassionately. He's got a silver tongue, but doesn't use it for manipulation. He's a brave cat as well, willing to throw himself at situations when nobody else will.

Lightningtail has changed a lot since claiming Troutspeckle's kits. His self-esteem has taken a blow and he's become rather uncertain of himself. His pride has taken a hefty blow. While Lightningtail used to flirt with other cats of his clan innocently, he refrains from doing so now. He doesn't want to make himself look more sleazy than being the father of Troutspeckle's kits already has. Lightningtail is a flexible tom and typically adapts to change well... unless it's a big change. Becoming the father of Troutspeckle's kits was a change that has taken longer than usual to adapt to, but something he still overcame.

Lightningtail can be easily manipulated. He might have a silver tongue, but that doesn't mean that he can't believe the tongue of others too easily. He's also a bit annoying. He enjoys teasing his clanmates but unlike his exile brothers, he knows when to stop. He doesn't do a whole lot of teasing anymore, after claiming Troutspeckle's kits as his own. He also harbors a hidden temper...but it takes a lot to set him off. With the coming of his injuries, Lightningtail has become more insecure and self-conscious with his looks, though he hasn't spoken this aloud...

[ kithood ] :

Lightning's kithood was uneventful. He and his brother, Stormkit, were born in the midst of a storm. Lightningkit was given his name in honor of the storm and also because his stripes reminded his parents of lightning. Their parents weren't very emotional cats... actually, they were quite detached. He and his siblings never really got a whole lot of parental love or affection. They were raised to be strong cats from the get-go, never really being taught how to be compassionate or loving...however, this did not last with Lightningkit.

[ apprenticeship ] :

Floodfall helped Lightningpaw grow into the cat he is today. The kind hearted tom showed him love and compassion, causing him to blossom. While Stormpaw became dark, Lightningpaw became a ray of sunshine. He trained hard, doing his best and taking the warrior code very seriously. Plus, he picked up some flirting techniques from Floodfall along the way! He grew very distant from Stormpaw, sensing the darkness in his heart and wanting nothing to do with it. He would always be there for his brother if he was needed, but their bond became loose.

[ warriorhood ] :

Lightningpaw became Lightningtail, honoring his long tail. During the rogue struggle he worked valiantly with his clanmates to try to keep them safe. He was furious that they'd be challenged within their own territories and heartbroken at the lives lost. He became very protective of his younger siblings, especially the blind Silverfrost. He was there for Stormstrike when his brother was injured in a river accident, coincidentally which Floodfall had saved his life during. Then... Stormstrike was banished. Lightningtail was floored. He knew that Stormstrike's heart was dark and he no doubt meant to cause trouble, so he supported Hawkstar's decision. While Stormstrike had not broken the code, perhaps he would have continued to cause turmoil until he reached that point... Nevertheless, the tom was heartbroken to have lost his brother even if they had drifted apart. He did his best to be there for Silverfrost and prayed that Stormstrike had survived somehow.

As it turned out, his brother had certainly survived and ended up joining Shadowclan. Lightningtail was relieved that he'd survived. It wasn't long after that when Troutspeckle approached him... and promptly dropped a bomb on him. She told him that she was pregnant... with Stormstrike's kits. She begged Lightningtail to claim them. He didn't want to be a father, but the kits deserved to have one and he also didn't want Stormstrike to be exiled from Shadowclan if they were found out. So, Lightningtail agreed. Everything changed after that. The young tom was often given scornful glances for his association with Troutspeckle... When he'd not done anything wrong. He had managed to make a good friend, at least. He and Wildsplash had had several rocky moments, but in the end Lightningtail accidentally ended up fessing up to his secret. She vowed to keep it. He at least had her to conifide in, as he awaited the arrival of the kits. As time trickled on he grew closer and closer to Wildsplash, quickly catching feelings for her. It seemed that she felt the same. The two confessed to one another that their feelings were stronger than friendship and began to court. [See It's For You [FOW] , Nothing Else Matters , Mate... Be Mine? [FOW] ]

Weaseltuft seemed to have taken interest in her as well, and wasn't afraid to flirt with her and provoke Lightningtail. Wildsplash seemed to feel the same so Lightningtail was shocked when she confessed that she'd slept with the rude tom. She explained that it was a mistake though, and he forgave her. The kits were born, two healthy toms. Unfortunately, there was some drama surrounding their birth. Not thinking anything about it, Troutspeckle and her friend named the kits... and didn't give Lightningtail the choice. He was infuriated. She apologized, but it wasn't enough. The tom tried his best to tolerate her, for the sake of his children, but she lost his trust and any chances of friendship.

His relationship with Wildsplash continued to grow stronger and stronger as more time passed. Eventually, Lightningtail asked her to be his mate... and she accepted. The plague swept through the clans some moons after that... and Wildsplash became one of its victims. She began to fight for her life and, to make matters worse, it was discovered that she was pregnant... Lightningtail could do nothing but watch as his mate and kits fought for survival. He had horrible thoughts... thoughts that he hated. He feared that if the kits survived to term, Wildsplash would not... so he hoped for a miscarriage. He got his wishes, and it began to eat him alive. Wildsplash miscarried her kits, and he had to watch her struggle with the pain. He hurt too, but he knew his pain was nowhere near to hers... [See Shinekit, Mistkit, and Skykit [FOW] and Guilty Wishes [FOW] ] The cure to the plague was discovered and Wildsplash began to recover. All was not peaceful though.

Lightningtail encountered Stormstrike on the border one day. Distraught over his kits, he reached out to his brother and crossed the border... He was not received well. Words were exchanged.. and Lightningtail told Stormstrike the truth about the kits. Enraged and in emotional turmoil, Stormstrike attacked his brother and disfigured his face, leaving him with a permanent half-smile similar to his own... He then took Lightningtail back across the border and left him... but not before saying he was sorry. Lightningtail's face was slightly disfigured, leaving him rather self-conscious... though the emotional scars ran deeper than that. Any love he had left for his brother was gone. Some time later, a fire ravaged the clans. Riverclan was forced to share resting grounds with Windclan. Sedgestar was acting oddly... aggressive, even... and war broke out not long after the clans returned home. Riverclan won in the end, Hawkstar killing Sedgestar. He'd had no choice. Lightningtail lost the tip of his tail in a fight with another warrior, but quickly recovered.

Riverclan began to face some civil tensions, but Lightningtail remained as neutral as he could on the subjects. Unfortunately, he wasn't involved for long... The tan tom had spotted Swanrose leaving camp and had followed her. To his surprise, she unknowingly led him to the gatheringplace. Her six other siblings were there. It was then that he overheard something that he wasn't supposed to hear... and he was killed for it. [All I See [FOW] ]
