Description To celebrate getting my FC art and stock mailed off today I rewarded myself with some playing around. I bought this sketchbook last year some time and promptly lost it. Over Christmas I had cleaned up my room and refound it. I now know why artists love this sorta brown kraft paper. It's immensely fun to work on!!!!! It's always so rewarding to try new things

This was the first pic I did. It's based on a photo I took at the Binder Zoo last May. Damn it was fun to draw! I love the results and way the paper reacted to the pencil. It's nice to be happy with something even if it is such a small and simple sketch. I am so looking foward to trying some watercolours on this paper.
6x6 pencil and white coloured pencil on brown paper.

That is absolutely gorgeous! Sometimes simplicity of our smaller sketches is what captures our hearts the most! This drawing wouldn't be anywhere as spectacular had you done deep detailing on it..

Great work! definitely a !

Looks almost proud. Have you ever done a zebra with its head up in a prance? I bet you can get some real good emotion into it.

That looks lovely. I really like how the white looks on the paper, and the rounded lines on the neck, ears, and jaw.

So this is a brown paper sketchbook? Does it have a brand name? I did get the parchment paper that you suggested. It's only the 8.5 x 11 size. I couldn't find anything larger though. I've never tried to draw directly at a zoo. I figured I'd be self conscious. I'll try it this summer though, get myself a good hat, maybe one of those carry chairs? w00t! Beautiful job! I've never seen a zebra look so full of character.

As I commented in the later post that is indeed the sketchbook I was talking about. And yes, I don't think it comes any larger unfortunately!

I love sketching at a zoo and this book would be perfect for it. You'd just need a pencil and a white coloured pencil so you wouldn't need to carry around a lot of stuff. Sketching at zoos is very good for your artistically but be prepared to have folks talk to you and peep over your shoulder at what you're working on

Hey there. You can find the spiral and hard bound book at Utrect.com but a lot more Cachet products were found here [link] You can hover over the link but it just goes directly to the Texas Art site. 8)

*laughing I love it when people come by with me sketching or whatever and asking if I drew it. I think I may have to stock up on these if I like it as they're not sold on Amazon anymore and I checked out the Catchet website and it looks like they don't have them anymore. I keep running into the books. I think I'd like the other one though. Thank you as always for replying back and answering my so many numerous questions.

The zebra looks brilliant on brown paper. I myself have never used brown paper but I would love to give it a try sometime. It looks like so much fun!

*mmm* I love brown paper m'self. There used to be a show on tv when I was a kid and there would be a narrator reading a story, but the only thing you saw was someone drawing a picture of what was going on. They drew on some kind of brown paper with maybe pastels? I love that, especially the way the white looked.
