Hello Herb
Long time no talk!

I hope all is great. I'm going to try to post at least 5-10 pics a week since I seriously have so much wildlife shots. In my townhouse complex, we also have a young hawk that looks just like this one.

I hope betty, sue, and the kitties are doing well!

Hey!  Como esta you!
It has been a while, really glad to see you are out there.  We are all doing very well.  Sue is getting ready to retire in May.
Thanks for the favorites.  I just skimmed your photos this afternoon.  I am going back to give them the attention they deserve.

Nice shot, Herb!
It looks like a young Sharpie to me also.  The other possibility is a juvenile Coopers - the two species look almost identical at first glance, but the relatively short, squared tail indicates a Sharp-shinned hawk.

Thank you, and thanks for the favorite.  The two hawks are hard to tell apart when young.  This is a great time of year down here.  Lots of birds are moving north and taking a break after crossing the Chihuahuan Desert.
We saw a merlin early this week.  The first time was to far away, the second time it was moving fast.

Sparrowhawk?

I think this is a Sharp-shinned hawk.  Probably a young one.  It is much larger than the American kestrel that we have out here in west Texas.  Thanks for looking.
