Born in Syktyvkar, Komi Republic, Petrova found trouble at an early age, killing a would-be rapist at the age of 13. Growing increasingly unhappy with life in the cold, dreary, remote province, Petrova planned to run away from home, where a drunken father often abused her mother. Before she could make good her departure, however, the KGB corralled the young girl, tipped off by the local police about the killing which took place a few months earlier. Rather than arrest Petrova, the KGB recruited her into their youth program, sending her to Moscow to study and train.

Her time with the KGB was short-lived, as with the fall of the Soviet Union, the FSB was created in it’s place. Petrova had so impressed in her short time with the KGB, that the FSB elected to continue her training under a special dispensation. As her training progressed, it became clear that the FSB had made the right decision.

At the age of 17, Petrova was moved into a regular training regime at an FSB facility, where her stunning looks proved nearly fatal. Assaulted several times by male instructors, Petrova always managed to defend her honor, infuriating the assailants. Her reputation as a fighter grew, and with it, the determination of the instruction staff to knock her down.

It was during a training dive that Petrova found herself without an escape, as her instructor began his assault on the young frogwoman inside of a mocked up sunken ship. A fierce battle ensued, during which Petrova was nearly overwhelmed several times. The resourceful girl, however, was the only one to emerge from the water – the instructors body was found the next day, his dive knife planted in his chest. What had been rumors about the assaults became reality, and the commandant was forced to dismiss several instructors. As news of her battle spread among the trainees, Petrova suddenly found herself champion of the females – many of whom had also been on the receiving end of after-hours visits from instructors.

Holding the unique honor of being the only trainee never bested in combat, Petrova was installed as an instructor of Combat and Self Defense upon graduation. After a short stint in that post, her love of, and proficiency in and under the water led to her recruitment by the Head Instructor for Underwater Operations, where she was installed as an instructor. Regarded as a brutal taskmaster, Petrova’s trainees – those that made it through – were regarded as the elite of the elite. Although her methods were, at best, unorthodox (some called them cruel and viscous), and the wash out rate was five-fold the norm, her graduates proved themselves to be deserving of label. Several have been recruited by the new Global anti-terrorist organization, U.N.I.T.Y. Promotion followed promotion, until Petrova was installed as the first, and only, Commandant of the Underwater Training Facility.

Her post, however, did not satisfy her – she yearned to do that which her trainees did – undertake actual operations. After several requests were denied, Petrova began to look for a way out. She found it at a café in Moscow, when she was approached by a man named Carlos. He offered her, on behalf of his employer, the life she yearned for – head of underwater operations for a well-organized, well-funded organization. She was allowed to name her price – it was met without hesitation. Under the guise of an FSB training conference, Petrova made good her departure, joining the underworld organization run by the Romanian industrialist, Constantin Reichen.
The life sought by Petrova would not be found with REICHEN, she quickly learned. Shortly after joining REICHEN, the alluring agent found herself the target of FSB assassins, bent on repaying her disloyalty. Petrova’s prowess, however, always proved more than a match, but the FSB lost over 20 agents before abandoning their quest for revenge.

In addition, Reichen had grown weary of his wife – the third on a list of notable beauties, and ordered her death by contract assassins. Petrova, unaware of the order, stumbled upon the plot to drown the woman and, believing herself to be doing a service to REICHEN, dispatched the assassin as he waited for the woman beneath the couples yacht. Saved from one assassin, the woman would soon thereafter die in a mysterious car accident.

Petrova then became the object of Reichen’s affections, shortly thereafter becoming his mistress. Living a life she could only have dreamed of as a child, Petrova’s reality quickly sank in, as she soon discovered that her lover was anything but kind. The fiery romance terminated when Reichen attempted to beat Petrova, but found himself the victim of a nearly fatal thrashing. Petrova fled to Odessa, where she became an assassin for hire.

Within weeks, a message was passed to her – Reichen had her sister, Marina. She was to return to him, or her sister would die. Petrova’s return was not all Reichen had hoped for, as she made it clear that her return was as an employee, and nothing more. Reichen, reluctantly, accepted her proposal, but continued to hold Marina as insurance. Reichen continues to covet the sultry brunette, courting her with gifts and flowers, but Petrova will have none of it. As long as Reichen holds Marina, Petrova is forced to do his bidding.

In her years of service with REICHEN, Petrova has been credited with over 100 kills, and has created an underwater army of impressive magnitude. Her frogmen and frogwomen, while viscous, lack technical ability. As she has few qualified instructors, training her underwater operatives has been problematic. It is rumored that Reichen has devised a plan to augment the staff of instructors. Once properly trained, it is believed that the REICHEN forces would be unmatched, and unstoppable.
