Description You all remember a few months back(like back in October of 2012) that I said that I was going to make 5 sculptures in a week, right?
Of course you don't.
Well, I did, and it didn't go too well. I only got two done and one of them actually took a deal more than a week but I learned a good bit from it.
Anyway, this is one of them; Globox from the Rayman game series. I sculpted him in as close to the artistic style as I could of the "Rayman Origins" game, which has to be one of the most fun games I've ever played and probably the most visually entertaining game I've ever seen. I can't wait for "Rayman Legends!"
Getting his head was the hardest part. I might paint him later, which will be easy.

Globox and all related Rayman characters are owned by Ubisoft.

I am a sculptor who mainly uses polymer clays and epoxy clays to make my projects. I specialize in animal and non-human characters. I could do a human character but I promise nothing. My work speaks for itself, as do my customers. I am willing to do an art trade but because of the inherent nature of sculpture work, I can all but guarantee you won't like the terms. Because of the responsibilities of life and the complexities of sculpture work, it is very difficult for me to give an accurate date of completion. If project is needed by a certain time, be sure to contact me well before you need it; especially for something like a wedding cake topper or a gift of some sort. Some projects may take a few weeks while others take months.
[NOTE: Some examples given are a few years old and are not necessarily a reflection of my current sculpting abilities. My skill have improved since the time these pieces were completed.]

I agree, it really looks great! You did a really good job!
Um... 'Glowbox'. The way you wrote it reminded me of that post.

Which material did you use? It looks fantastic!

This has an internal armature made of an aluminum foil core and wire for the arms and fingers. The eyes are made of black and white colored Premo Sculpey while the rest is a 1:1 blend of Super Sculpey and Super Sculpey Firm.

Thanks!

Wow, the same materials of EmilySculpts.

Sadly in my country its impossible to find the Sculpey clays said. I would have to import from abroad, I think.

Yeah, you just get the best combo of both types, perfect for sculpting. The Super is

Really? That's a shame. Just look around online. If you have to you can go straight to the source www.sculpey.com .

Oh, and you likely know that there's different types of Sculpey(just look through their website). Well, the Super Firm mixes best with the Super. You can mix it with Regular White Sculpey but the resulting mix is rather brittle after baking. It does work very well for homemade tool handles because it gets harder(or at least it feels harder).

If you've got any more questions, just ask.

I really would like to improve the texture of my sculptures, but the materials I need do not exist in my country. And only because of the sending cost from United States of America, it gets almost as pricey as the materials themselves. It gets really difficult.

Well, just do a little research. It's likely there's some other brand of polymer clay that you could get a bit cheaper that's very similar to this stuff.

I didn't think the Rayman Origins illustrations could look so appealing in 3D! Very nice job with this- I especially love the pose.

Thank you!
Yeah, the pose is based on Globox's pose when you first start a level in "Rayman Origins."

Haha I love this. The expression is perfect! Looks really professional. Where do you get your bases from if you don't mind me asking?

Head-ZonkStudios In reply to supernaturalsarah [2013-01-31 17:14:09 +0000 UTC]

Why, thank you. It turned out pretty good for being a rush job.
I get these bases from Micheal's Arts & Crafts store. I just smooth them out a bit. They're real cheap too!

Man, I wish we had a Michael's in the uk! I'm going to have to try to find some elsewhere then lol. Cheers anyway.

They shouldn't be too hard to find. I mean, they have them in bins in like, 12 or so different sizes and that's not counting the large ones. So some other craft/art store should carry them.
You're welcome.
