Description I updated my mersona once more because I just wasn't happy with any of the prior versions anymore.

Well, the real reason for the new design was actually a new product by Mertailor. In case you don't know, Mertailor creates mermaid tailskins, silicone tails, monofins and other swim apparel for mermaids and mermen. His products are always quite pricey, but very beautiful and two days ago, I discovered that he had a new item in his shop, which are these adorable mermaid flippers: www.themertailor.com/mertailor…

I've never seen mermaid fin designs for individual flippers, but I really liked the idea (if they weren't so expensive, I'd really like to get a pair for myself), so I decided to redo my mersona again and integrate the concept into the design. After all, it is quite weird that Heart has fully human feet but scales all over her legs. Why did I initially think that was a good design choice? πŸ™„

Anyways, the only thing that stayed the same regarding the design is the transparent blue webbing between my fingers, the long sharp fingernails and my face, of course. The length of my persona's and mersona's hair always changes depending how long it is in real life, by the way. At the moment, it has gotten a bit longer once more, so I drew my mersona with long hair here. Everything else got add-ons or was changed/removed completely.

Let's start with the little things: I added two gills each to both sides of my neck and ribs, where they stretch over my belly a bit as well. Then I added some arm fins and a pearl bracelet to my left hand. I didn't add a necklace this time and the fingers also don't fade into a blue tone anymore πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Now to the top. In the last redraw, the upper wear was pretty much part of my body, as it consisted of long blue fins that grew on my skin, but I decided to revise that and clothed my mersona in a self-crafted bralette which is made out of two white sea shells that are decorated with some pearls and kept in place by some seaweed straps. I figured if mermaids don't have scales growing on their chests, they either go shirtless or craft their clothing out of things they can find in the ocean. I also decided to add some fins to the underside of my boobs, which poke out of the bralette.

Now let's get to the biggest change: the legs. Not only did I change the former color palette which was more like a bright turquoise/blue and purple color to a darker turquoise/mint color with dark blue, yellow and pink tones (I just wanted to distance myself from the color palette of my Fin Fun scale leggings), but I also decided to add transparent hip, thigh, knee and shank fins. At, first I was worried that it would look too cluttered, but I think they add a lot to the look πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
And lastly, her fluke fins fade from turquoise to yellow to blue.

Also, remember how I said that my mersona is luminescent and that her scales change color in the last update? Yeah, that's not the case anymore. Her scales are pretty shimmery, but they don't glow in the dark or get darker at night. She doesn't need luminescence, as she's not a deep sea mermaid. She and her tribe are situated deep enough that they're mostly hidden from nosy divers, but not deep enough that it's absolutely pitch-black around them. They have pretty good eyes, after all and whether they stay in the sea surrounding Germany or Ireland, they always stay close to the coastline.

I also decided to kind of rewrite her backstoy a little, since she has two seperate fluke fins now, instead of human feet: unlike the other mermaids in her herbivore tribe, Heart was born with a birth defect called a "split tail", which basically resulted in her having two seperate legs. The other mermaids make fun of her a lot as she isn't as fast as they are and probably won't ever be, but since her heels fade into proper fins, they do give her a bit of propulsion. Whenever she wants/needs to go somewhere quickly, her friends and family members still have to take her by the hand and pull her along, though.
But in time, she learned that her birth defect actually had one specific advantage: unlike other mermaids, Heart could enter land if she put pants, long skirts or dresses on to hide her scales and she did so quite often. She enjoys watching humans and taking part in their culture.

One day, she discovered some humans swimming at the beach and she noticed that some of them were using monofins. She quickly discovered that their way of swimming when using such artificial flukes was very similar to how her kind moves underwater, which gave her the idea to tie her ankles together to move faster in the water (you can see the seaweed strap she uses for that purpose wrapped around her right ankle).
Tying her ankles together did help her swim faster, but her family still wanted her to manage without doing so all the time, so they sent her to stay with a sea walker tribe for a while. Sea walkers are blue-skinned carnivorous creatures that are born with legs, long tails growing out of their tailbones and webbing between their fingers and toes. They're extremely skilled fighters and fast hunters who taught Heart how to use her legs properly, so she could turn her biggest flaw/weakness into her biggest strength. Nowadays, she doesn't tie her ankles together that often anymore.

Heart has no problem exploring the sea on her own to collect sea shells and stones for example, but mostly stays within reach of her tribe. She would love to meet a deep sea mermaid one day (they rarely leave the depths of the sea, because deep sea mer people usually don't have any business with the more humanoid mers near the water surface), but she's afraid of the deep sea, as it's full of terrifying and dangerous creatures and she panics easily when she can't see nothing but darkness or an endless blue void around her. Maybe one day, she will meet a mer person from the deep sea. Who knows? 🀭

By the way, do you want to know how long this one took me? Almost six hours! But it was so worth it! πŸ˜‚
Now I finally have a mersona that suits me better. And I really love the color palette I chose for my scaled legs. Overall, I'm really satisfied with the end result and love how my updated mersona turned out. Now I finally have a mersona that I'm truly happy with ^^
