Description Something I've noticed about the way other people draw is that they use a huge canvas size, large enough that they can draw small details on it and it not look pixelated in the slightest. If only I could figure out what that canvas size was. I tried to use a big one here (2400 x 2000), but I still feel like Honest doesn't have the amount of detail that she should. So, I am starting a new Operation: Find the Problem. There is some fundamental amiss in my art, and I aim to solve it. It could be the canvas size, but in addition to that, I need to find out a more efficient way to use that extra space to improve my drawings and not just move them up to a larger size that just increases the amount of work I'm going to have to do without actually improving the result.
In this work, I used something I picked up from this artist:
Rasbii
I put a shade of pink over just Honest. I'm not sure how I feel about that. It's so subtle, and plus I'm afraid it will make the colors in my drawings end up too same-y.
When drawing portraits (or capturing them in the case of photography) I always aim to create impact with the cropping. Here I ended up cropping it just below the knees, pretty much doing away with the most uninteresting part of Honest's design-- her shoes. When I'm able to find the Problem, I will most likely start drawing her without any shoes or ones that change based on the context of the drawing.
