I must say this is a really impressive piece, one that brings to my mind the artist Pablo Picasso. The use of lighter colours gives it a nice soft look and the bold black lines really make the structures pop from the softer background, really drawing the viewer's attention. I find it really creative how you shaped the structures in here and I'm having fun just looking at it and seeing the various faces hidden within the image. The gentle blending from the dark side to the light side is done well and I just marvel at your red trees. The title matches in a way where I imagine the twisted realities of oneself, the good and the bad side. The two structures look similar and in my mind it represents just how alike both sides can be, despite the difference in darkness and light. Overall, you've done an amazing job.

This is a great concept! Although you haven't given information about there being a story behind this painting, I feel like there definitely is one. It's like the viewer has a choice of picking one or the other side, each one with their own good parts and bad parts.

Your choice of colours nicely separates the two extremes and the shades create cohesiveness. The "redder" side, however, seem to be taking over the canvas as it extends further than the "bluer" side. Was this the intension? If you wanted to have a divide between the two sides then perhaps they should clash in the middle.

I also like how you've created texture and intrigue using a strong mix of round shapes and sharp shapes. Your linework technique is also pleasing to look at and at the same time it creates flowing lines leading in and out of the chaos of the two sides.

Overall, I feel that if the two sides clashed in the middle the impact you've created would be that much greater.

It is a well painted, intriguing piece all the same. Great work!

Your abstract is wonderful, it's colorful ! I seem to see 2 organic fortresses which raise in a fairy world.

Wow!! This is just an amazing painting!!Β
I love how you have played with the contrast between the two parts, like a mirror between the real world and its reflection... (love this kind of vision between dark and light)
The feeling is perfect, half colorful, half stressful...
Really great job!

I love this piece. I haven't seen anything like it before. It almost looks like a war of bright, bouncy colors and gloomy ones too. Very good job!

Wow this is really cool, the structures have both a magical and a rather creepy quality. Well done!

Hey there! I'm commenting for 's april month!

This piece really stuck out to me with what's currently in the gallery, which is great! I think I was just drawn to the organic shapes, and the nice contrast that is in this painting! I like how you included the work in progress shots in the description too, I am interested to see how the piece has changed! I was going to comment that the swirling pattern in the middle of the piece reminded me first of a spiral staircase, and then of a double helix! But looking at the WIP it originally had more of a perspective and there the shape reminds me of a candle! Very cool!

I didn't notice it at first but like I said after I looked at the WIP and then back at this it does feel a little flat now. All of the shrubbery sort of gets rid of the depth and all of the background colors just look like they are all on one plane to me. Which is fine if that's what you were going for! And if not, then its something you can possibly work on for next time.Β

I also really like the colors you used for the background, they are mixed really nicely, especially where the blue is fading into the lighter colors. The left side looks really cool to me (because of the blues) and the right really warm (because of the yellows, reds, and whites). But it is sort of lost with the central figures. Maybe if you wanted to heighten this kind of effect you could have used similar cool colors only on the left, and only warm on the right (I think its the yellow thats shows through the 'windows?' on the left, and the green on the right that primarily throws me off.) But again if this wasn't the kind of effect you were going for then oh well!

And just to comment on the title, it really makes me think! Are we supposed to read more out of this painting? (I know some abstract pieces are simply supposed to be abstract and have no deeper meaning). So how do you think of yours? The shapes do look like buildings to me- I feel like I can pick out stairs and windows in places! It's like a giant majestic building made out of coral! I think the buildings look really cool, and not sinister (probably because of the bright colors) so I'd say it was more of a dream than a nightmare! Or another idea maybe is the left side is the nightmare and the right a more friendly dream... who knows! Very awesome, made me think a lot

Thank you so much for your comment on this painting On my WIP it used to look like ruins of two strongholds with a tower in the middle, but I changed it because i had to repaint the background often. In the end it turned out like this. That surreal mind of mine! And yes, it does look flat, thank you for pointing it out . Next time I will try harder to make it look more in depth. Thanks again!

Wonderful. I love the contrast between the softness of the light and the hardness of the structures. I almost missed the subtle move from dark to light across the page representing the nightmare and dream states. Your colours are beautiful and I bet this looks great at full size. Β  Β Β
