Description Here is Crescent,  my 13 year old leucistic Texas Rat Snake (but about 9 years old in this photo), sitting so pretty with her little witch's hat on. I thought this photo was a good action shot of her tongue!

Thank-you so much Vin!
Crescent is giving you a kiss!
That's what I always think when I see her tongue out.

This reminds me that I STILL need to find a proper witch's hat for Leviathan (my lavender corn snake).

I just saw in your gallery that it was Leviathan's 12th birthday a few weeks ago. Congratulations!

Crescent is turning 13 years old this Fall. She is showing signs of her advanced senior age, especially in the last few months. Has Leviathan started to show signs of advanced age? I know corns and Texas rats are in the same family, but I've heard that leucistics may not live as long as the other rat and corn snakes-I guess because of the leucistic gene. So Crescent may be aging faster than Leviathan though they are close in age, I just wish I had someone to talk to about caring for elderly snakes. There isn't much information about elderly snakes on the Internet, so I guess I will just learn as I care for my Crescent. She has cataracts now, that is the most noticeable sign of her advanced age, and in the past 3 months she has developed digestive trouble (regurgitating her meals sometimes).

But I still love her and will care for my precious girl in the time we have together.

Thank you!

Yes, Leviathan has definitely begun to slow down...isn't quite as active as she used to be.  But other than that?  Same ole snake!

Sorry to hear that Crescent is aging as well.

Thank-you Linda!   I always love it when my camera ends up capturing Crescent's tongue in action-especially when it's all the way out like this!

Amazing, that except for the very last one (which I've just now faved) I had all the others in my favs... Don't know why this shot was so striking to me making me feel I'd never seen her tongue Fully extended before... but it was more striking to me than in the past. !!

My wish too! That would indeed be Heaven on Earth if we could live in the season of Autumn for the rest of our earthly lives.
But Autumn always seems to be the shortest of seasons...which means we just need to cherish each and every day while she's here.
