I had done a celebratory deviation for this character's birthday yesterday, but that was because I had decided that I wanted to try and start doing this for the characters on a more regular basis. The truth is, I don't care for this character very much.

TLPG is an unnamed character in the strip who sits next to Rerun in Kindergarten. Most people who do name her call her Katie Halverson. As for the character herself, I find her to be bland, boring, and even a bit of a killjoy with the way she interacts with Rerun sometimes. She's stoic, never showing much emotion (though I headcanon that she has a lot of repressed emotions), she doesn't talk much, and she doesn't seem like she would be much fun to be around. Not because she's a bully, but because the other kids would get bored with her.

The thing is, I even have to wonder if that is the point of her character. There's nothing really funny about her on her own. She just seems to be there in order to support Rerun and his moments, and she doesn't have anything of her own to bring to the table besides a love of art.

OTP: None. I do not find myself supporting Rerun and Katie as a ship.
NOTP: All ships involving her for the time being because, again, I don't think anyone besides Rerun would find her any fun to be around.
BROTP: I like Rerun and Katie's platonic friendship slightly more than I like the idea of them as a ship, but even at that point I'm not swayed enough by it where I would consider the duo a good enough BROTP.
Headcanon:

Okay, this is where it gets interesting. My explanation for the way Katie is is because of her mother. Due to the poor and unreasonable way Katie's mother responded when Rerun was talking to Katie about the idea of "running away to Paris", I've theorized that Katie's mother is an extreme, and sometimes downright abusive dictator of a parent. I feel like the reason why Katie's mother was so upset about the Rerun situation was not so much because of Rerun, but because she knew that Katie had been expressing displeasure over something. Katie's mother was not going to tolerate her daughter complaining about ANYTHING. She was going to be grateful no matter what at all times, or she would be dragged by her hair up into her room and would be put to bed right away without any more meals for the day!

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that Katie is the way she is because her mother has been drilling it into her head that life is not meant to be fun and games, and that the way she acts is the way she is supposed to act. And because Katie's mother is so harsh and strict, Katie doesn't want to go against her in any way because she would get severely punished, to the point where it would be abusive. Katie's mother also doesn't believe in imagination, and she insists that her daughter never have any "silly" ideas or fantasies either. This explains why Katie talks to Rerun about his art the way she does.

Speaking of art, I feel that Katie's interest in art is in part the result of her using it as a means of escaping what is secretly a miserable childhood. I mean, with a mother like hers, who wouldn't be miserable?

I'm still working out some of the details on my headcanon for Katie and her family, but this is what I've cooked up so far. I'm thinking about doing a subplot in my main story's sequel that deals with all this coming to a climax, and Katie's father, who is the polar opposite of her mother, needing to come to his daughter's rescue.
