Description Originally i was going to use the guy Rain from Ninja assassin (fucking stupid name... 'rain'... makes the 'Friends' joke)

but then i saw he was north korean and I did want to get an actual japanese person for this. Because there are so many cool japanese power character out there and they're played by douchebag Americans (Goku casting... WTF Hollywood, spiking an american guys hair DOES NOT MAKE HIM JAPANESE)... so i went with hiro mizushima

I really like the origin of him hating America... i think if they ever used him in a film that would be a good angle to go with.

Yeah. sunfire was kinda the same time as original xmen whereas pyro came into the franchise a lot later.

While I agree using a white guy to play Goku was the epitome of dumbass on hollywood's part; Goku is an alien and technically has no real nationality. Though I doubt whoever was casting that POS took any of the show into consideration when they made it.

The pick here looks pretty solid, I'd see it.

Sunfire being anti-American worked for him when he was first introduced in 1970. In those early stories with him, it was revealed his hatred for the US came from the fact his mother's death from radiation poisoning, a lingering effect of the atomic bombs dropped by the US on Japan in 1945. He was also manipulated by his uncle Tomo.

As time went on, that origin became less plausible, and he became really more portrayed as an arrogant hot-head.

Personally, I'd pay a nod to the original story by portraying Tomo as Shiro's grand-uncle, who blamed the US for his wife death due to cancer caused by radiation, and sees his grand-nephew Sunfire as a way to get his revenge on the US by manipulating and fostering hatred for the States within the young mutant.

not to step on toes but even if Goku WAS human i always though he'd be Chinese givin' the way he dresses, the man who cared for him, most of his friends, his wife, his master, even the story he's based on have Chinese elements/backgrounds to it. It was created by a Japanese man but ironically as far as i know Yajirobe seem to bo one of the only actual japanese in the show's history.
