Like I mentioned, I dug out a bunch of my older sketchbooks after Christmas and have been scanning stuff that has either been lost to the Internet or exists in really poor shape. This is one from the mid-range books, around 1998-99....yeah, this drawing is as old as my son.
Anyway, about the time I was getting back into the furry fandom after a situation that is too dark and complicated to relate here, I discovered Max Blackrabbit through his connection to the "Extinctioners" comic that I was heavily into at the time. Naturally, I also discovered his most famous creation, Zig Zag, and like many was immediately smitten, but as I still hadn't embraced my pervert muse yet I wasn't comfortable with drawing her in her "normal activities."
At the time, though, I also discovered a weird little AU fanfic involving her called "ZZ Noir" (inspired by one of my favorite songs, "Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress)" by The Hollies) and decided to draw that version of her. I'm mixed about the results, but it's still one of my better pics IMHO.
...Shawntae Howard was right, I used to draw my furry girls REALLY fucking fluffy. I need to do that again, it was fun.

For years. First met him through the "Extinctioners" fanclub back in '98, '99, because he was inking the book at the time. Excellent artist and a really nice guy. He was part of the reason I tried my hand at adult artwork for a while, since it looked like fun and is actually an EXCELLENT way to refine anatomy skills (which have long since deteriorated due to my art block...oh, well).

I've been more of an admirer of his characters rather than his art. You like some of the fan art of his characters i.e. Zig Zag (of course), Raven Hunt, and Pussy Noir?

I avoid it as a general rule, especially if it's adult (it is REALLY easy to write rotten porn, and many smut writers don't bother to put ANY effort into their work), but, again, it depends on the skill of the writers, same as with fanart. If the original creator (Max in this case) singles it out, though, I might give it a shot...that's how I discovered the "ZZ Noir" thing this pic is based on in the first place, after all.

Well, for a matter of fact, I'm the writer of a fan fiction series featuring Raven Hunt, based on Doctor Who with my OC time Lord character. Now I know that it might sound as ridiculous as any fan fiction piece, but would spent a few moments of your time explaining what makes this different to any of the fan fics of Max's character you've seen?

Dude, I haven't read that thing in over 15 years. Like the tag says, "Ancient Stuff?" I don't even remember the main character of it. I just found this pic in one of my old sketchbooks, thought, "Oh, yeah, this isn't a bad pic, last place anyone saw it was on my VCL account back in '99, maybe the people who follow me now would like to see some of my older artwork from back when I could still draw halfway decent?" then rescanned and posted it.
I don't have any issues with fanstuff. If you'd actually spent a few moments of YOUR time and went through the rest of my gallery, you'd see that fanstuff is about 90 percent of what I've produced in the past decade and is where almost my entire fanbase (all three of them) comes from...Hell, even I have a "Doctor Who travels with my character" fic in mind involving my Mazinger Zoe character. The main reason I don't like to read most fanfic is I don't want someone to claim I ripped off their idea...I get that enough with my own original characters, last thing I want is to hear it from writers already using other peoples' characters and ideas.
I'm sure your fic is good (if only because your comments here show you AT LEAST have a grasp of basic grammar, which is better than most writers on the Internet), and Raven is an excellent choice out of Max's cast for a potential Companion if only because she's arguably the most intelligent and sophisticated one of the lot. I just don't think badgering me over a decade and a half old fan picture is exactly the recommended way to get readers, if only because I don't really have that many people who come here anyway (I'm an "underground cult classic" at best).
