When we last left Ankha, she was taken on a tour of the Solar System by Fox and Krystal aboard the Stinger II. Now they approach the largest planet of the system, Jupiter.

Ankha: Me, Meow! I thought I would only see this in books and films. I'd never thought I would see this in person.

Fox: Yes, Ankha, and strangely enough Jupiter has a long history of surprising scientists – all the way back to 1610 when Galileo Galilei found the first moons beyond Earth. That discovery changed the way we see the universe.

Ankha: What about those colorful band and that great spot. Does that have to do with its atmosphere?

Krystal: Oh, yes. Jupiter's familiar stripes and swirls are actually cold, windy clouds of ammonia and water, floating in an atmosphere of hydrogen and helium. Jupiter’s iconic Great Red Spot is a giant storm bigger than Earth that has raged for hundreds of years.

Ahkha: How massive is it?

Fox: Jupiter is more than twice as massive than the other planets of our solar system combined. It's a gas giant so if it has an inner core, it would be the size of Earth.

Ankha: it certainly has a good number of moons orbiting it.

Krystal: In fact, Jupiter has recently 75 moons orbiting the planet. And it's discovered that it even has a ring system though it's very faint.

Ankha: Ring system? What's that?

Fox: That will be answered when we go to our next planet. And that planet's beauty is one thatt really have scientists baffled.
