For those of you out of the loop, two main political parties in Zimbabwe are ZANU PF (Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front, which is lead by President Robert Mugabe and holds majority rule) and MDC (Movement for Democratic Change). The two parties have been at odds with each other for some time now with little chance of peace between the two. This piece is playing on the old 'rock, paper, scissors' game. Ironically ZANU PF's slogan is the clenched fist and MDC's slogan is the open hand.

So the presidential elections are on next year despite the call for them to be moved up to 2010. All thanks to some members of ZANU PF even though the party has called for Mugabe to be their choice candidate, which is of no surprise to us. Must admit that my hope for change doesn't brush past ZANU PF I'm convinced that there are members who are well aware of the situation and know things must change. They might not open the door but they might be able to so subtlety expose where the key is hidden and give us some freedom over the bullies of the schoolyard. As far as MDC is concerned, we know they'll come up short even if most of the country supports them; it's always been that way. Resent talks have shown a split of opinions within MDC. Probably between those that are pro all the way and those that feel like compromise is better that patriotism, which is understandable considering people are starving to death.
