Description A silver and smaller version of the Kingmoor ring which is on display in the British Museum.  The original is approximately size 13.5 (US) and has 3 runes on the inside.  I made this size 9 to fit me, so it has 8 runes on the inside.  Available in my Etsy store (HopkinsForge)in other sizes and metals.

Ah, neato! Say, does the ring on your Etsy have same enchantment as the original? I've been feeling anemic and I'm out of barely to shove in my ear.

Yup.  I have to push more and more runes to the inside of the ring as the size decreases but the whole enchantment is there.  Size 6 is all runes inside and out.  I have a professional chef testing the enchantment for me - I figure she's most likely to cut herself.

So why is it you decided to move the runes to the inside of the ring? Why not engrave smaller runes? Is it a stylistic choice, or did you do it to keep the runes and ring width the same as the original? How difficult is it to put runes on the inside of the ring? My stupid joke aside, this is a pretty interesting project.

Well, the original has 3 runes on the inside of the ring, probably because they ran out of room on the outside.  So I just followed that lead.  And it would disrupt the aesthetics of the runes unless I shrank the height/width of the ring also.  Moving from sz13.5 to sz 11 might not be too bad, but making a sz 6 the ring would be very delicate and i think the runes would be so small that they would be very difficult to carve.  Putting the runes on the inside is also hard, mostly because of the angles you have to come at it, but it's probably easier than itsy-bitsy runes.
Glad you like the project.  I'm planning on doing more anglo-saxon jewelry next winter.  There are 5 gold rings from this period in the British Museum (the kingmoor being one of them) that I'd like to make.  Maybe I'll get 2 done next year.
