Description Pencil practice photographed from my sketchbook (I want a scanner).
I think I should make more pencil drawings. This took me about 2 hours I think. I used a mechanical pencil, a normal pencil, and a big pure graphite pencil all in HB, because I don't have more The face is referenced from a girl I photographed here:

But I changed a few things. I don't like to recreate photos 100%

I love how you change a few things, I don't really like to recreate everything from something 100% either. It feels as though I'm copying..even if it is my own photos or resources.

Question: if you ever have the time, would you be so kind to make a tutorial? I'd love to study from you. *__*
And you answer comments. ;A; WHICH IS AMAZING.

Yes, It's also kind of boring to draw exacltly the same that's on the photo. I mean I already have the photo, if I want it I can take it
About the tutorial: Hmmm, I might actually make one. I have some material for tutorials but it always takes so much time to compile them. And then I prefer doing art instead of tutorials, especially because there already are so many But, hmm I'll think about it again.
Thank you so much !

what ? you want to tell you that you suck ? Jawohl ,this is not good enough you need to practice more you evil psychological lady . I am no critics , but the lower part (everything below the head) look unfinished just due to contrast of not so many darker area or something. So thats what I see , I am not a good drawer so I dont know much else to say. but I still think you are an accomplished drawer .

This is beautiful!! Do you use a special kind of rubber when you want to erase any lines (if you do at all of course) as it looks flawless!? I always admire artists who can draw so clearly! I always manage to make a mess of my pictures - digital or traditional - and when I finally put them in order to look presentable, they always look BLURRY (as my most latest artwork can demonstrate) LOL!

hel999 In reply to sunnyday81 [2010-09-09 17:24:32 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I use a rubber. And I really USE it. For example I remove some of my sketchlines when I start shading etc. In the end I also need it a lot to brighten up some parts again because by going over it with my hand when I'm painting I spread the grey color everywhere:/
I don't think your artworks look too blurry. I think it adds to the dreamy soft light you often use, so it's kind of fitting. To make it less blurry you would only have to make the outlines of the figures a little harder because that would be enough for human perception to make it look like it's "in focus", I think.

I'm shocked that only 2 people added that drawing to favourites, because it's beautiful. It seems to me that drawing with pencil is better way to show sb's talent than working with photoshop. Well done, cheers.

Awww, thank you so much! I just submitted it so I hope that when more people see it some more will add it
I think that all people who want to be good at digital art should practice their traditional art skills equally. And most of the digital artists I admire also have some very good traditional artworks in their galleries: ~Solon-Fyre , *Wolfie-chama or *meago So I try to do both and learn from both. It kind of hurts me when people look down to digital art as if the computer would paint it automatically and not the artist. It's just another medium - some prefer this and others that

Yes, both: traditional and digital art requires some skills. I have to confess that i thought similarly to these people not long time ago. I recently got to know photoshop and I ascertained that it's not so easy to get an unique and good effect of shading! (The biggest problem in Ps for me is making hair) However, I'm still of the opinion that photoshop was made for people who want to do experiments with the art. But why do not to play with it? It can turn out to be very helpful in improving our artworks and getting interesting effects
