Description I just had a look at some old photos I took in Petra, Jordan, and decided to upload them for you. I enhanced and played with the colors a lot in these photographs but all in all the rocks were really quite colorful. It's a beautiful place.

I hope you don't mind that I submit photos sometimes. They're quite amateurish, my cameras have always been bad and my real passion is painting but nevertheless... I guess the places I photographed inspire me and I want to share that with you.

These reminded me of my visit to Petra and its wonderful colors and shapes, not to mention awe of the civilization that created those precisely carved rooms and buildings. Now, I need to relook at my pics too. Barrie

So you went there too! Isn't it one of the most beautiful and inspiring places in the whole world? A big collaboration artwork between man and nature. All the effort it must have taken to carve out the stone! And how nature swallows the man-made parts again like what happened with the "windows" up there. My photos couldn't really capture it as much as I wanted. But I'll try to add some more. And maybe start some paintings inspired by them.
I'd love to see your photos if you can post them somewhere.

None of my photos could do this place justice - but I will look through and see if any are worth posting. In the man-made category, I think what impressed me most is how the angles and corners of the rooms carved into the rock were square-on and sharp.

Interesting rock formation , Is that inside a canyon system? or a wall of rock in the open?

I think I took these in the canyon on the way to Petra. You have to walk 200 meter through the canyon to get there because it's inside the rock formation. But when you arrive there are more tunnels and and man-made rooms in the rocks - so I'm not sure where exactly I took them.
