No. trois! Now you can see my few attempts at Valjean and Fantine. These are the most recent, as I did them like... a week ago? Right after seeing Les Mis in Atlanta. I was so excited I nearly exploded with joy.Will I ever go past drawing just heads and shoulders? Stay tuned to find out!

Heads and shoulders are good to practice. They're pretty key features. I like your style. It's disney-esque.

I have troubles with Marius, as well. I adore your Javert! The top left and middle sketches of him portray so much emotion, excellent job!

Really I'm in love with your work! I'm in Les Miserables right now, playing Eponine. And I just have to tell you that the facial expressions that you captured in these sketches for her are simply fantastic!!!! I really feel that all those faces tell her story

Fantine looks beautiful! You're ridiculously talented- each of the characters looks just as I pictured them and their faces are so expressive! It's really amazing

Okay, as I said before, your work is just charming! To echo a previous commenter, your 'handle' on expressions is amazing - you really capture the personalities of each individual character! Javert of course, is awesome. And I particularly love the little headshot of Fantine up there. Very pretty (in a melancholy kind of way haha).

Thank you! Expressions are easily my most favorite thing to draw. Fantine gives me difficulties now and then; but I would like to draw her more often, "I Dreamed a Dream" is in my opinion one of the most poignant pieces.

LOL, I'm rather amused by your struggles with Marius too, haha. He's a tricky one! I don't think I've ever tried to draw him. Keep up with it though, youll nail him the same way you got some of the other characters so well

I think Marius' deal is that he's a difficult character just to get in general. He's probably the most human in terms of psychological realism of any of the characters in the book and most people don't quite know what to make of him, it's kind of hard to form an opinion either way about the guy (or perhaps that's just me!) And so it should follow that it's harder to get a visual design down when you don't quite know the character.
I could simply be putting too much thought into this of course

It's just that he's so normal... A naive young fellow caught up in the ideals and revolutions of his time, meaning well and falling in love and just... Everyone else has such strong personalities it leaves Marius behind sometimes I think. He's an average kind of guy; how do you draw an average guy while still making him so you don't think "Background character" and think "Oh yeah, Marius" ?
Nonsense. Thinking about this kind of thing is fun.
