Quite long time ago we were making photograms in photography, since I ran out of "proper" ideas I decided to just make one of my own profile. It consisted me pressing my face and hair against two secluded sheets of photographic paper under enlarger in darkroom and became one of my favourite experiments so far. When I have headed home I decided to experiment further and started researching and painting studies of galaxy before working on this particular piece. My choice to use galaxy themed background was of fascination for astronomy and partly because we are part of it. In the end of splattering, salting, sponging the background I have traced my photogram and cut the shape of my profile out of the galaxy I painted which made this final result. As we started new project on self portraits this experiment came to use.
