Back in 2007, the 'Daily Telegraph' held a contest to redesign the British Union Flag. It came up in an argument for adding Wales to the flag in some way (incorporating the dragon or a saint etc.) Oddly, the world went mad for the competition, and the winner was by an anonymous Norwegian, who came up with a Gurren Lagann-inspired flag. It got around 55% of the votes Otaku must account for a large proportion of the paper-readers population.

That, or it just looked so damn cool it appealed to the masses.

No surprises the government types were not happy with the idea hehehe. Being both a Brit and an otaku, I quite like the idea... although to genuinely change the flag would be a bit daft. I feel sorry for Wales not being included on the Union Flag, but neither are the Channel Isles, the Isle of Mann, or any of the outposts found dotted around the world.

Pippin-Yoko flies the Gurren-Jack proudly though This'll prolly get scrapped later, but I just finished watching Gurren Lagann and am geeking out like crazy at present, so pah!
