If I may add to this... er... conversation, I'll say that a whore is actually more of a word of someone who wants something excessively for personal gain or pleasure, like say a attention whore is a person who seeks constant attention for pleasure. a whore could be a lady who seeks after many different men for the pleasure of it. A slut is more... specific. if a woman sleeps with many men and plays them, she is a slut. although slut and whore don't mean a prostitute, many prostitutes are likely to be considered a slut/whore.
