Which fisheye are you using for IR? Nikon 10.5, Samyang 8 or Peleng 8 perhaps?

Sigma 8mm it doesn't matter, really.. it's not really useful for ir
too much money, not many situations where can be used

Is it sharp in IR and does it have a hotspot? 'Cause all the Sigmas I've met so far were hotspotting...
Does it focus well? 'Cause my 10.5 Nikkor focuses uselessly in IR, it's focal plane is bexond infinity...

Focus is terrible.. not sharp at all.. it have
hotspotting in certain light.. It also gives different
colors than other lenses that I have. I was considering
10.5 nikkor, but as you wrote....

Yup, you could spare the hotpot with the Nikkor, but that would be not much progress in the other areas. Maybe the Samyang 8mm is the answer...

in my opinion no... In IR is always matter of the glass quality.. I don't
think Samyang is answer..

but, as I saw in Berlin gallery, it gives red cast on photos.. not really good, but
maybe the measured the WB wrong..

That's only a matter of postprocessing. Sharpness, hotspotting and focus are the factors that really count.

not allays matter of post processing in my opinion..
when the WB is correct, colors are much better

~sorny uses a samyang 8mm for IR. I've seen test shots from his setup (12MP NEFs) and it's quite sharp and has no hotspot.

I like my Sigma a lot
As a bonus it's FF, so I can use it on my D800
