This is my friend, Douglas. We met on Valentines '09 at the Oregon Zoo. He's a native Douglas Fir squirrel, or so I was told by a passing zookeeper. She said they run free around the zoo, and by the look of this little guy, they're not too shy! We sat for almost six or seven minutes watching each other, and he posed for several pictures before I tore myself away. And then he just watched me leave! It was so sad, I wished I could have taken him home with me..
