In the PS novel, it did said that the micmac ground was cursed by a Wendigo and the consequences would be that any dead body buried in that ground will return as a bad shell of their former self and turned into a demon, like for example when Timmy returned he came back as a foul mouthed yellow eyed creature who knew secrets of other living humans and same for Gage when he returned back throwing other people's voices out of his mouth when he taunted Jud before killing him.
Afterall the Wendigo likes to use dead bodies as it's puppets.

yeah, yeah! god i havent read the book in years! i should reread it some time. i like the first movie too but i def like the second one better for some reason. im not too sure about the new one coming out tho...
